  1. That's up to you, though I'd still check the other doors. They may not have been used as much as the driver's door, but brittle insulation will affect them all.
  2. The driver's door lock is indeed the master lock, however the A3 is known for broken wires in the rubber bellows between doors and pillars. I suggest you remove all the door cards and inspect the wiring.
  3. The fact they can knock off £1300 immediately shows how much they try to overcharge. They wanted £208 for a sunroof service and I got it done for £60 at a specialist near Newcastle. Swift Moror Engineering in case anyone is interested.
  4. Water ingress is proving an increasing problem. Check the service history of the car you're looking at. It might be due auto gearbox oil service etc.
  5. You'll need the clock spring from the new wheel.

Not until end of Feb 2026. I have a decent garage near to me in Surrey that I will go to and get his opinion. He is pretty militant and tells it like it is, but I do feel I have asked another people now. I'll keep an eye on blackcircles and if the Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S 275/30 R20 Y go on sale again, I might just replace for peace of mind. Usually replace in at least pairs, though.

Given that we have only seen a couple of small photos, whereas the professionals have examined the real thing, I can't blame you for taking their advice in preference to ours. The ultimate decision however rests with the next MOT test. When is that due?
  8. ok, i managed to open the door by pulling on the door handle a few times then it opened, when the door handle is pulled its not moving the cable, but it doesn't seem to be broken ?

Lots of strong opinions on here. Thankfully, I've spoken to professionals and they align with Mark M's comments. I forget how terribly emotional and vocal people can get when their opinions are not followed. I do appreciate the passion, but in this instance, I'll go with what the pros say. If there was any indication at all safety was compromised, I'd just replace the tyre. However, the resounding feedback for this tyre is it is cosmetic and I can replace if I am precious about it looking ugly but it has zero impact on integrity or safety of the tyre.
  10. Thanks Kevin. Yes it must be gold (!) - the dealer said the replacement DPF unit was £3,500, and when I queried how long it would take to fit they said 8 hours - so I then queried £3,000 for 8 hours (?!) and they said there are other things that also have to be replaced like sensors and hoses, and a computer reset etc. The dealer rang me first thing this morning and said they could 'help' by reducing the cost to £5,200 - so £1,300 off 'to help' - which is a start, but £5 grand is still unaffordable for me. I wonder if it's because I told them I would have to try and find another solution and took the car back off them. Off to see an independent Audi specialist today. Spoke to them on the phone yesterday and they said a clean might work, but they would review, test and then discuss it with me. I've also been told by someone else that I could consider a 'remap' - whatever that means. I'll try the specialist first and see what they say. Watch this space...
  11. £4-5k for probably up to 2010 plate which is on B8 and probably more desirable than B7 model (2004-2008). B7 are very desirable but in S or RS engine configurations. This will be very niche market to sell into - so getting what you want could be a wait.
  12. Hello Dan, I think interested parties would appreciate more information in your advert to reduce the risk of undue inconvenience on both sides. Could you please add, on a point by point basis:- Details of service history, how many owners, how long have you owned it, recent work carried out, taxed, MOT and road legal for trial, ULEZ compliant etc.?? Importantly - price you require for it. Regards, Gareth.

I really can't understand anybody even considering driving a car with tyre damage such as this. It not only your families safely, think about others on the road you may injure with a blow out!
