Thank you for the reply, it is a bit odd but I’m sure there is a reason for it. Thank you again for the response. James

I have an identical model to yours and can confirm that mine does the same. The outside tail lights go brighter as soon as I unlatch the tailgate and dim again when it closes. I don't think it's a fault, there's no flickering just a definite on/off that seems to suggest that it's deliberate even though I can't think why.
  5. It’s in Crewkerne, Somerset
  6. Personally no as I have never used one, however the opinions of those with more expertise on the forum such as Spartacus and Stevey Y can be relied on. I suspect they will suggest VCDS. Cheap scanners can not discriminate every fault, that's why they are cheap.
  7. I’m sure that’s the case with all tuning companies Steve. I’ve read the small print on Darkside’s website. Let’s face it, diesels are basically the devil incarnate after years of successive governments actively encouraging them. The vehicle manufacturers added everything including the kitchen sink to reduce emissions, but yes, eventually down the line it will catch up with you. I don’t know enough about deletions and any after-effects, but there’s usually a consequence somewhere down the line.

Ah, catch tanks. The favourite bodge of the clever clogs amateur mechanic intent on defeating every attempt to improve the atmosphere we breathe. It seems to be particularly popular in America.
  9. If there is any suspicion regarding the battery you would do well to get it tested professionally. It may have been damaged when it was allowed to go flat.
  10. Welcome to the forum you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch 🙂 It's a lovely colour
  11. Modern keys have 2 types of function, if your key does not start the car when held up to the designated area then the graphite immobiliser component has failed which is extremely rare. This component has a preset code that cannot be changed and the cars ecu gets taught the code when keys are programmed in. the second part of the key is for entry to the vehicle, this is what the circuit board and battery on the key does, this works on a rolling code basis and can lose its programming but on many cars this can be recalibrated with special diagnostic tools. keyless start cars use the battery in the key to extend the range of the graphite chip and extra antennas in the vehicle pick this up. That’s why if the battery in the key fails you can still Start the car by holding the key close to its designated place. what function of your key does not work
