  1. Hi buy a good set of sensor sockets [not the cheap ones] I bought a set of US Pro off eBay they come with all the sizes you need except the 22mm for the O2 sensor, they have a cut out in them to allow the wire to go through the side, warm the engine enough to get the exhaust warm and give a soak in plusgas before you do it and leave over night, once the socket is on you can normally assemble a daisy chain of extension bars to get your drive point clear, then engage a breaker bar and applying pressure with one hand forcing down on the socket turn anti clockwise, once free chase the wire back to the connector, usually mounted on the bulkhead to the rear of engine. Steve.
  2. Hi VCDS is a dealer level as was diagnostic system it works on cars up to 2025 but it wont do what you want to do which is delete all the assistance systems thats all protected by SFD a new system that stops you doing such things the only people that should be able to do it are the dealers but they can't /wont do it, only real solution is to get rid of the car or live with it until the back street guys find a way round it. Steve.
  3. I bet the local lads would have offered you a free brew, I also bet they do a better job and wont be mincing about in immaculate boiler suits, fair play mate on supporting your local indy. Steve.
  4. Hi the MAP sensor is on the inlet manifold possibly after the throttle body, try reconnecting the MAFF as at a thousand rpm the readings should climb to over two hundred degrees pretty pronto, quick solution to finding where things are is go on LLL carports site and plumb in your VIN then search for sensors and it should throw up an exploded diagram of the exhaust, if not do the same on another site ZAP7 . Steve.
  5. Hi the oe ones are Bosch in a poncey Audi box which apparently makes them about £140 dearer, if you look at your original unit it will have both the Bosch and Audi part numbers on it, once you have the numbers go fishing on the internet, can highly rate parts in motion on eBay, unless you really want an expensive box. Steve.
  6. Yes the Q3 was filled with £25 worth of diesel which allegedly gave it 190 miles drove back to home 6miles and the gauge had dropped don and only showing 80 miles on the range, two new egt sensors and a DPF pressure sensor + a MAF we are now getting 400 miles on £50 worth of diesel, the sensor in the last picture is one of them the first picture is an O2 sensor, just chase each wire from each sensor back to its plug station the plug ends are colour coded which helps. Steve.
  7. Hi I am pretty certain only three but if those readings were taken when the car is up to temp sensor 1 is definitely on its way out as it should be reading the same as 3 and 4, had this recently on a Q3 same system and two started showing a reading when I replaced 4 which was weak therefore the car would not regen properly and was chucking out black smoke, its all stopped now and will be getting a new EGR valve next Monday. Steve.
  8. Wrong no amount of software updates will clear P2002 its the low pressure EGR cooler that is blocked with gunge and depending on how many miles you have done will need cleaning or in most cases replacing, the adblue crystals in the exhaust stream mix with the water vapour from the PCV and form a glutinous white syrup that rots the cooler tubes out, if you want realtime views and pictures I posted loads on the C7 forum, they basically want to charge you for the update if it exists then charge you again when It doesn't work somewhere in the region of £3000 for parts and labour, P2002 is a static failure that can only be rectified by having new parts I had this job done three times in 270k on my A6 [same engine] and its truly horrible job. Steve.
  9. Hi no the manufacturer is legally obliged to inform the government of any recalls which are then posted on the gov.com website to warn of any potential safety issues as for the lock out any proactive garage should have a diagnostic platform to read the car apart from which the fire wall only exists to prevent people from activating things that are dormant but fitted to the car also remaps and what is known as tuning, it should still read DTCs, shame you did not manage to get the code that would have told you what it was straight away, AA didn't give you a printout with the code on it?. Steve.
  10. Hi thank you thats the grandad of the CNH series engine which brings up the other problem that engine suffered which was EGR blocking or staying open check the operation of it on live data. Steve.
  11. Hi trim removal kit made of high density nylon, loads of them on eBay just dont buy the really cheap set cos they bend to much, you will also find replacement clips on eBay. Steve.
  12. Hi the only problems that occur with adblue crystals is when its out of the container thats over two years old or its been sitting in the car for over two years which is nigh on impossible, any way whatever you get treat it to a bottle of crystal dissolver [Forte] is good, these cars do not like cheap adblue and especially supermarket fuel, if you want total peace of mind with adblue buy a Peugeot or a Citroen they use pats fluid, ELOYS. Steve.
  13. Hi not trying to cost you loads of money but the only two worth considering are Bosch or NGK believe me I had two aftermarket units on my car which failed in short order, if you can get them off eBay all well and good the part number is on the side of your existing unit so that gets you in the game, try partsinmotion on eBay or the net, I strongly suspect your unit is gone as I found they usually last between 80-100k. Steve.
  14. Hi the best all round additive for keeping everything clean inside the engine including the DPF is a rather clever product called Dipetane it comes from Ireland and has rave reviews I started using it a couple of years ago, its a Hydrocarbon that is added to the tank and makes the soot particles in the DPF burn off at a lower temperature so after using it nearly always get 5g measured and about 6g calculated, Google it, on eBay its around £20 for two litres versus the Hydra at about £26 for a litre. Steve.
  15. Hi you either access it via the wheel arch liner but your one looks like its the take out the headlight unit. Steve.
  16. Hi its a get you out of trouble screwdriver, it should have a plastic handle somewhere, they are pretty useless you will be better off buying a little Draper 1/4 drive socket set and a US Pro 1/4 drive torx set for around £50 for both that covers just about every fixing in the engine bay. Steve.
  17. Hi most of the engines from 2013 late to 2018 share a generic design as about late 2015 they were given the CNH designation the turbo and exhaust configuration has always been the same but if you could post a picture of your engine minus the cover that will help a lot, and the VCDS should be more than adequate. Steve.
  18. Hi just replace it they are cheap enough and at the top of the engine bay, easy peasy. STEVE.
  19. Hi Gas costs money so if you only fill it half way by the end of the day if you have done say 10 re gas the last two would be free to the company, typical Kwik Shat policy. Steve.
  20. Hi yes use a proper nylon trim remover the clips do require some action. Steve
  21. Hi there are three sensors one after the turbo another after the cat and yet another on the exhaust after the DPF, dont know what diagnostic system you are using but you should be able to pull up all three and any sensor that throws up a fluctuation that goes into minus or 00 is dead I would also get another MAF sensor as these often start the problem you have, if its any help there is a post on the C7 forum from a couple of years ago under Big Townz, I posted a lot of diagrams on it if you can't find it I am sure if you PM Magnet the wizard of the forum he will be only to happy to point you in the right direction. Steve.
  22. I hope you give your bank account some pain killers before you pay.
  23. BTW no fifth injector, the engines are post injection strategy for regeneration.
  24. Hi never mind the live data for the injectors, if the car has done that sort of milage the most likely candidates are, MAP, MAF sensors the MAF very rarely throws a code even when knackered, most important are the EGT sensors as if they are bad they will cause the ecu to massively overfuel the engine as a bad EGT will sometimes give minus readings so the ECU thinks its way to cold in there so it humps in another bucket of diesel, hence the smoke, also check your soot loadings if the calculated is way higher than the measured one or all of the above will be your problem. Steve.
  25. Hi from my perspective you would be better off with the original D2s the service life for LED units aftermarket is probably less than the HID because %99 of them are Chinese and for some peculiar reason have cooling fans attached to them, the D2s works straight out of the box, LEDs do create more heat and annihilate the beam pattern, So if you want a cheeky upgrade go for 5000-5500 kelvin D2s no extra heat just a whiter light, try Vally Lighting on eBay, I used their D5s units, fair price and only got a bit dim after two years and 100,000 miles [cab working nights]. Steve.
