  1. So, what else do you guys also drive or ride ? Any other makes or just Audi ? Anyone ride a Motorbike or drive an interesting 'fun' car ?
  2. Sounds like Power Steering Fluid that the VAG cars use...which is green in colour. I would check the PAS reservoir for correct level and if its dropped that's where its leaking from. Chances are the hose clips just need tightening a bit
  3. Hi Gemma Sad to hear about your Audi, it would have to be one of two things, heat generated through a hot engine or components igniting combustible material or it would otherwise be an electrical fire with enough electrical current (e.g. large wiring, probably straight from a battery feed and not through a fused feed) to generate enough heat to lead to combustion. Either way it needs properly investigating! Has any work been carried out on it in the last few days? Keep us informed as to the outcome. Cheers Trevor
  4. Hi Anthony....welcome to the Forum Welcome also to the wonderful world of Audi ! Feel free to put a review of your Audi on the Drivn website as we're looking to find out what Audi drivers really think of their particular car www.drivn.co.uk Cheers Trevor
  5. Hi Ben...welcome to the Forum Congrats on the new car! When do you get delivery of it? Cheers Trevor
  6. Hi...and welcome to the Forum Looks an absolute beauty and well spec'd ! Keep us informed of how you're enjoying once you get it Cheers Trevor
  7. Sounds like the microswitches or battery
  8. Hi Uzair...welcome to the Forum That does seem odd, because if the wiring powers up an aftermarket stereo then the power supply is the same and therefore okay. The only thing I can think of is if the standard stereo has a security feature (coded) and the aftermarket doesn't? Also, check if there is a small fuse at the back of the stereo. Let us know what you find Cheers Trevor
  9. Yes its possible that could be the case....only way to alter is to replace the springs with ones you prefer, normally cheap for aftermarket springs http://www.audiownersclub.com/parts/

I think I'd be tempted to just chuck into my computer and see what comes up

Hi Rob....welcome to the Forum Congrats on the new Q7, lovely car! I can only imagine that it may be Audi connect infotainment services (3 month trial) - info taken from their website, perhaps a demo disc for this system? Let us know what you find out, would be interested to know Cheers Trevor
  12. Hopefully the new mount should get rid of the noise, if not I could only assume with the excessive engine movement that a joint (intake, exhaust) has been dislodged slightly enough for it to make the sound
  13. Hi David....welcome to the Forum I would imagine a low idle speed is nothing more than the induction system being clogged up with carbon. Probably best to run some cleaning additives through the engine to clean it out. More efficient than that is TerraClean treatment http://www.terraclean.co.uk/ which should really sort it out. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
  14. I would see if the noise is still there once you have replaced the mount, but I suspect it will be gone
  15. Bearings do not tend to show wear nowadays, unlike the old fashioned taper roller type bearing. However, if a bearing is worn is should 'grumble' when rotated but you can't really simulate it as there is no load on the bearing when jacked up...so no real way of telling if it's knackered apart from obvious movement due to wear. You could turn the radio up! sorry, couldn't resist that.
  16. Was just reading an article about the rollercoaster (which I have to see looks very cool running through the building) and it said that the whole of that building was planned to be a theme park and the rollercoaster was to be the fastest one on the planet. It opened for four days and they went bankrupt. So the new owners are looking to remove and scrap the rollercoaster and just concentrate on racing. I do believe they make good money with track days, etc and the same with Spa...whereas Le Mans don't really do much when there's no events on so they have to extract as much money from the punters when there is a race event on. I'm sure you will love Spa, especially doing a track day event...keep us updated on it when you do go Cheers Trevor
  17. Hi Rick...welcome to the Forum She's a beauty! And just in time to enjoy the lovely sunshine we're having at the mo Enjoy! Cheers, Trevor
  18. Hi John...welcome to the Forum Difficult one really as could be virtually anything causing poor starting. I would look at fuel filter & housing as if its drawing air that could be one reason. Also, check the Coolant Temperature Sensor (CTS) and especially the connector and the wiring going to it, because if that's giving the wrong reading it would affect starting. Let us know how you get on with it Cheers Trevor
  19. Try this fix to see if it works for your car. Also, another area to check is where the plug attaches to the heater blower unit....switch the ignition on with the blower switched on and wiggle the plug and see if powers up, if so then it could be a loose connection on the terminals.
  20. Hi Kevin...welcome to the Forum I believe you can run auxiliary (aftermarket) LED running lamps as a road-legal option which would be cheaper than modifying your standard lighting to incorporate LEDs Link to Headlamps with LED http://www.audiownersclub.com/parts-results/Q5/Headlight-Assemblies/44240 Link to other lighting components http://www.audiownersclub.com/parts-results/Q5/Other-External-Lighting-Parts/174065 Let us know how you get on with your project Cheers Trevor
  21. I believe the current (amps) will change with the blower speed but not the voltage. I would pull the power feed fuse to the unit and test the resistance with a multimeter to see if it changes with blower speed settings.
  22. Hi Bruno...welcome to the Forum It's great to see that you're up for modding the A5 already...I personally think so many subtle mods enhance the already great looks of the car. I would definitely start with a window tint and the caliper paint job. Keep us updated with your mods Cheers Trevor
  23. More than likely the control unit at fault...is this the what the unit looks like? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/like/161892310815?clk_rvr_id=1092506197799&vectorid=229508&lgeo=1&item=161892310815&rmvSB=true
  24. Usually you will have to programme the infra-red side of things with VAG COM or similar. There is a procedure for resetting after battery replacement which involves pressing the buttons in sequence with the key in the door lock.
  25. It's a difficult one as I used to own a Nissan X-Trail and this had the same issue. Read some posts on forums, all saying the same thing...tyres! Changed my tyres, noise went. Sometimes they lay new road surface which although improves grip by adding certain compounds to the mix but also leads to increased road noise. I think if it was me I would try a few different road surfaces (that you don't normally travel on) to see if it changes or disappears before throwing wheel bearings at it. If still no joy then try to diagnose when the noise disappears (e.g. turning left or right) which should determine which bearing is faulty
