  1. OK Colin, now we understand. I would be surprised if 17 wasn’t standard/ available option. Now you need to check the hand book/ inside fuel filter cap to ensure that is correct, and that the tyre width and profile match what is specified, and the tyre pressures are set to the required pressure Please let us know how you get on. Regards, Gareth.
  2. Hello Sean, It’s now Wednesday following you joining and posting your request for help on Monday. Mark has given you a most helpful reply, but it appears you have not returned to the forum to read, let alone acknowledge, the help you have been given. Please don’t continue this ‘Post and run’ tactic. Regards, Gareth.
  3. Hello Holly, I can understand you being the parts chaser, otherwise you are paying the mechanic for his time to do so. Having said that, I don’t know exactly how you are going about this, where you have looked to date, whether you are set on secondhand parts, and all important - do you know the part number of the hub you are searching for. Perhaps you could colour in this detail for us Holly. Regards, Gareth.
  4. Thanks Colin, The handbook should give you choice which was available, but will not tell you what the car was fitted with at build. Just wondering why you want to know, and what the car is fitted with now. Regards, Gareth.
  5. Or just buy 5litres Quantum Longlife 3 which is VAG’s own brand. I never extend oil changes out to c18k or 18 months, but change it annually if you do an average mileage. Quantum is available from a number of reputable EBay sellers. 5 litres will allow you to have enough ‘top up’ oil for hopefully a couple of years. Regards, Gareth.
  6. Many thanks for coming back on this Andy. So I guess you are ready to take a chance on the potential oil burning issue, which could cost you well in excess of £220/a -? Regards, Gareth.
  7. Thanks Akash, please let us know how you get on.
  8. Do you own this Colin, and do you have a handbook for it? If so, the wheel diameter options should be given there. My feeling is there will be a choice between 17 and 18 and possibly more. If you really want to know what it left the factory with then you will need to get a copy of the build record via. the VIN. Walking into a dealer Parts section may provide you with this. Regards, Gareth.
  9. Welcome Akash, I have a similar issue with a non-Audi, and I’m attributing that to a bad wiring contact on the in-tank fuel pump. Not too difficult to sort, depending on your ability. Regards, Gareth.
  10. We are a welcoming group here, so please don’t extract the urine Lukas.
  11. Your Town/Country location Lukas - really??
  12. Welcome Phil, Admitting I don’t know on this model, but logic will obviously point to the filler plug being above the drain plug. Haynes Manuals? - notoriously generic - so don’t always accept all that you read. Might be worth looking at LLL Parts website in the hope they have an exploded view diagram. This bit is of vital importance and should be written in caps:- Always - without exception- make sure you can undo and access the filler plug, before removing the drain plug. Let us know how you get on Phil. Regards, Gareth.
  13. There we are Roxanne, and many thanks to D for the summary. As D say, please let us know how you get on. Regards, Gareth.
  14. Many thanks Antonio, If we haven’t received a response from Andrew by the end of tomorrow, I’ll send him a PM for you, and hopefully post a response. Regards, Gareth.
  15. Welcome Antonio, Regrettably Andrew never did return to let the forum know how the issue was resolved. Let’s hope he does now, but if not, you could send him a PM and hope for a response. Regards, Gareth.
  16. Welcome Roxanne and thanks for joining. Since the car won’t crank, it will first need to be established whether the stater motor solenoid is getting a full 12 volts. If it is, suspect the starter motor, if it isn’t, the wiring will need tracing and checking from the ignition/key start to the starter motor. If it were mine, I think I would consider investing in an hours time with a trusted auto electrician. Please let us know how you get on. Kind regards, Gareth.
  17. Welcome Kenny, but please give us some more information for members to go with. Could you please describe the problem you are having? Regards, Gareth.
  18. Hello Frank, Well worth searching EBay. Please let us know how you get on. Regards, Gareth.
  19. Thanks Brian, Autodoc has had mention in relation to the supply of incorrect parts. I’ve never been affected by this, because I don’t buy from them, preferring not to pay highish postage charges compared with other suppliers. Regards, Gareth.
  20. Absolutely Martin - it’s your car, and you are free to do with it what you will, and my feeling is that any advice given ( when asked for) which doesn’t concur with your views, will be ignored. I certainly won’t be chasing you again for a thread-closing update, since I feel the tread will remain as ‘unsolved’ anyway.
  21. So we take it the asked for advice which results in:- Getting the alternator output checked. Getting the full battery efficiency checked. - has not been followed, and prejudging, is unlikely to.
  22. With apologies to Cliff for following on from his question:- I believe you can discount any association with the bonnet contact. If the wipers work, then this is serviceable. If it were mine, I would first be checking you are getting a good 12 v supply to the pump and an adequate earth. If you are, suspect the aftermarket pump, but I haven’t had any frequent issues with these. If you aren’t getting 12 v to the pump, you will need to check wiring back to the stalk - which could also be the culprit. Please let us know how you get on Martin. Regards, Gareth. p.s. Afterthought :- you are talking windscreen washers here, rather than headlight washers- ?
  23. Hello Martin, We can see you have returned to the forum since yesterday’s post requesting an update. Any good reason why you are not responding?
