Just bought a Audi TT 1.8T 180 and judders at high end
Thanks Geraint, If it were mine, I would certainly not be treating the ‘getting it to run better’ as a priority over getting it inspected in relation to the long list of previous advisories, before even driving it quietly. Regards, Gareth. p.s. Did you indeed look at its MOT history before going to look at it?

engine light solid on
Welcome Adam, The light could be as a result of numerous components, so it’s simply a guessing game prior to a diagnostic assessment. Re. Outstanding recall:- If it were mine, I would not (in caps) pursue this. It is possible that it was as a result of emission recalls, and this forum has been dotted with horror stories in the past, following actioning these recalls. Your car, but a definite DON’T DO IT from me. Please let us know how you get on with the diagnostic check. Regards, Gareth. p.s. Did you buy this from a dealer? If so, you should have redress, but I would notify them by e-mail, otherwise they may wriggle out of it, on the basis that you have been fiddling with it without reference to them.

Just bought a Audi TT 1.8T 180 and judders at high end
Hello Geraint, You are suffering from post-purchase blues - quite a normal reaction. Regrettably, in your situation, I think your concerns are valid. Did you check the on-line MOT history of the car before you even went to look at, or particularly before committing to buy it? Checking it now, probably explains the reasons for its juddering - severely worn CV joint boot, rough wheel bearing, welded wheel/s, brakes imbalance, worn suspension pins, tyre worn below limit - I could go on. I notice the car passed its latest MOT, now advisory-free a week or so ago, and my guess is you bought it from a dealer who arranged a new MOT before sale. Geraint:- PLEASE DO NOT DRIVE THIS CAR AT SPEED AND WITH ENTHUSIASM UNTIL IT HAS BEEN PROPERLY ASSESSED. ( apologies for caps.) This car has used some printer ink in its MOT history! Way forward:- if you bought it from a dealer then e-mail them ( you need a written record) and explain its juddering at speed , and it appears to be overheating, and you intend to book it in with an MOT station of your choice to check the car out. If you bought it privately, let us know the wording of the advert. Regards, Gareth.

Also search EBay etc. What mileage has yours covered, and when was the Haldex unit last serviced. Tyre thread depth been uniform on all wheels during your ownership? Regards, Gareth.

Audi A3 acceleration ticking noise
I wasn’t referring to whether the noise differs hot or cold, but simply whether the car’s ability to start easily from cold or hot has changed-?

Audi A3 acceleration ticking noise
OK Charlie, Changing auxiliary belt and tensioner was unlikely to cure this issue unless they were at fault. Other possibility:- mixture too weak. Has the cold and/or hot starting varied at all since this noise has occurred? Regards, Gareth.

Original carpet colours
Thank you Nigel, We now understand your request, since you have explained it far more clearly than you did in your opening post. If you had done that, the actual situation - which only you knew - would have been less confusing. For the rest of the membership, this is as I see it:- Your particular car was originally fitted with a beige carpet, but someone - at some time - has replaced this with a black carpet. You now want to replace this black carpet with an original example of a beige one. As I see it, the particular colour code of this carpet is not really necessary, since wherever you intend getting it from, ( where would that be?) there will only be one beige variant for your model year. Hopefully this qualifies the situation. Regards, Gareth.

S5 UGR private plate - how desirable?
Many thanks Rafael. So it would seem that it would be possible to place this number on a Retention Certificate ( cost around £110?), then select an agency to list it for you. Yes you gamble that money, but it does retain the number. Kind regards, Gareth.

S5 UGR private plate - how desirable?
Welcome Rafael, and thanks for posting your question. If we translate desirability into value, the route to that would be via getting a valuation from specialists such as Registration Transfers - there are many more. They will value it on a ‘Return to you’ basis and do all the advertising for you. My experience is that these can take an age to sell - if ever- but it’s well worth a try. One question worth asking yourself is :- If it were so desirable, why didn’t the previous owner retain it to reap more funds from the sale? As I understand it, the donor Golf would have to have a current MOT, and I believe ( but please check) will have to have been continuously taxed for the past 5? years. Please let us know what you find out Rafael. Kind regards, Gareth.

Original carpet colours
Nigel, I’m not attempting to find answers, simply because I (and possibly other forum members) did not know the precise reason for the question. Is it somewhat purist to ascertain whether a later variant ( if the same fit) of beige is the same shade as what may have been fitted to your model - but of course wasn’t, since yours was fitted with black carpet? Still rather confusing, but….

Audi A3 How can I remove part of the dashboard?
But I will respond Bob. I take your comments on board, and in my book, it’s very, very rare the anyone’s background or abilities to be enquired about, or indeed needed to be qualified in any way. In your case, I’m left unsure as to why your competence led you to enquire in the first place, and it’s equally confusing to see what has been said that represents a personal criticism, but if your logic points it to be, then so be it, in your mind. Good luck with it. Regards, Gareth. I

Original carpet colours
Hello Nigel, What would be your route to acquiring a beige carpet for the car, if you could find a colour code? Finding a carpet in useable condition for a 30 year old car would be a bit of an ask - in my opinion. Getting one made and moulded would likely cost 2 arms and 2 legs. Alternative:-why not fit tailored beige overmats over your black carpet? You should find plenty of sellers on EBay offering variations on carpet quality and edge sewing choices. Please let us know what you think Nigel. Kind regards, Gareth.
