  1. Be careful you don’t wear your exclamation button out.
  2. Welcome David, and thanks for joining. Try LLL Parts website, and you may find the part number listed there. Please let us know how you get on. Regards, Gareth.
  3. Thanks Dan, You could be right that there are indeed two thermostats. Worth checking LLL Parts website? ‘…. as simple as chuck a new one in to fix it..’ If you are asking me to guarantee that replacing the thermostat would fix the problem, then the answer is No. Like every other forum we can only make sensible suggestions. Regards, Gareth.
  4. Please share your own theories with us Dan.
  5. Suspect thermostat Dan. Regards Gareth.
  6. Difficult to say from your photo, but that may be the engine earth. Let’s hope it isn’t, since if it is, I would not think that in isolation would prevent the starter motor from doing at least something. Regards,Gareth.
  7. Was this response of any help to you?
  8. Hello Phil, If not the spring pan itself, are you talking the straight link arm, or the curved one. Although I keep pushing this with no personal connection:- Have a look at Parts in Motion website. They are very precise in their descriptions , and I’ve got the impression the straight arm is handed - from not very good memory! If in doubt just give them a ring. I’ve used Febi brand to good avail. Please let us know how you get on Phil. Regards, Gareth.
  9. Thanks, Faulty new starter motor? The fact that it’s new is no guarantee that it is serviceable out-of-the-box, or that it will remain so during its guarantee period. Sub standard electrical components from distance parts are not uncommon! Having said that, was your original one the culprit?? Varta battery should be fine and is likely to be the OEM brand, although I have had issues with them in recent years, and no longer depend on their quality vs. brand. Pressing clutch pedal before starting:- by no means an uncommon requirement.
  10. Hello Sarah, Sorry to hear of your issue. I think that if it were mine, I would be getting the car inspected by a trusted local auto electrician - they should be better versed in such issues than a local garage. As a matter of interest:- Is it a manual? If so, do you need to depress the clutch pedal or similar to normally start the car? Make of newly replaced battery? Regards, Gareth.
  11. Hello Paul, You seem to have posted your advert. and simply not returned to the forum to read responses. Would you be kind enough to return to the forum please.
  12. Welcome Andrew and thanks for joining. By your description of ‘a groove wearing ..’ would suggest some component is touching the tyres at the site of the groove - either suspension related, or a steering/ suspension component, rather than an alignment issue. You should be able to determine where by turning the wheels on to full lock and looking under the car. However, as Steve says, it would be well worth you getting the car assessed at a trusted local tyre retailer. Regards, Gareth.
  13. So are you DIYing it or not?
  14. I don’t know Greg, but I would be surprised if it’s fibreglass and not a composite. Are you going to DIY this button arrangement? If so, I see a potential for the headlining to wrap around the drill, so worth giving some thought to avoiding that. Also recommend a stop on the drill to prevent drilling into the roof! If you are not carefully DIYing it then I would be even more wary of the consequences of the above via. a 3rd party. Regards, Gareth.
  15. Great Tony -very pleased for you. Back to your SP30, didn’t they offer you the option of attending a speed awareness course for around £90, rather than 3 points? Regards, Gareth.
  16. Hello Tony, I’m sorry to hear of the sad background news, and can well appreciate your reasons for buying yourself a nice new car, on a why-not basis. At this age, it’s not unusual for the current insurers to come up with more reasonable quotes than comparison sites, so let’s hope for better news. I guess you are inputting the low annual mileage of 3k-? Please let us know how you get on Tony, and/or if you think we can offer any further advice on this. Kind regards, Gareth.
  17. Hello David, Probably not my business, but a quick search brought up Tyres.net at £330 pair delivered, so perhaps a collection price of £300 maybe rather optimistic. Although appreciating your logic based on what you paid for them. Regards, Gareth.
  18. Dare I say Tony, you and I are of a certain age where insurance companies don’t wish to start insuring us, i.e. if you are currently insured with them then they will continue to do so - at a price! - but comparatively few want to stat to offer cover.
  19. Sorry to hear that Tony. Buy a classic car at a fraction of your outlay and get free road tax, cheap insurance which includes an agreed value and breakdown cover. No ULEZ issues. Ideal solution unless you do a lot of motorway driving. Regards, Gareth.
  20. Blinking heck Tony, For the overall cost of buying and running this, I would want slates on the roof, and a council tax bill! I’m well qualified in the pensioner category, but the insurance on my prestige brand non - Audi is not that much more than what you are about to pay for your luxury car tax. In case it helps, I have been insured with Darwin ( subsidiary of Churchill) for a couple of years. Worth a try? Regards, Gareth.
  21. Hello Eamon? You seem to have altered your name to something implausible. Any reason? The chances of anyone having these are slim enough to ignore the possibility, let alone the postage cost to get them to you. Depending on fronts or backs, Parts in Motion seem to be listing pairs of rears from around £48 inc. postage. Please amend your name, and let us know what you think. Regards, Gareth.
  22. Worth trying Ali-express (China). I had a set from them for a non-Audi and was pleased with them. Regards, Gareth.
  23. My hearing is not good, so I cannot judge or comment on it. What I will say, is that any vehicle making any unusual noises is trying to tell you something. If it were mine, I would be getting this assessed by a trusted local independent without delay. Please let us know how you get on Arron. Kind regards, Gareth.
