  3. Thanks Frank, OK, but I just wonder how you are going to rectify this issue, even if someone else has the same problem. Couple this with the dealer being suspicious of you having fiddled with it, and you could find that essential warranty has suddenly become invalid - so good luck with that. Naming and shaming your nearest dealerships is not something this forum encourages, since this forum is open to all - members and non members alike, and the dealerships you name and shame are not able to to reciprocate with their views. Your call, but if you want us to remove your comments then just ask us to do so. If you are not bothered to do so, then they can remain on the proviso that they are solely your comments, and have been discouraged by this forum. Ok, to get to a a dealer of your preference will lead to you being inconvenienced, but there is little the forum or its members can do about that Frank. Regards, Gareth.

  5. Good afternoon all. My 2004 Audi A4 Avant is due for its MOT end of August. My mechanic can't find a right rear bulb holder. The existing one is on its last legs, rusted, with only the indicator bulb still working, brake light and rear light are not working, even with new bulbs. My mechanic has tried to find a new bulb holder, including at auto recycling places, but in vain. He says the car is too old. I love my car and find it ridiculous if I have to throw it away just because of a bulb holder. I would be grateful for any ideas!

  7. Hi folks, Need to pick yr brains on this one; I had my headlights upgraded to LEDs, but that meant removing the front bumper. That did something to the radar units &/or wiring. I’ve had to replace one radar unit, which now works but there is still an intermittent ent fault in that the adaptive cruise will just randomly switch & display the error message, ‘xxxx not available, no sensor vision’. Now, I’ve check to left hand unit & plug contacts, all good, the Right unit contacts should be as it’s been swapped, However, there’s zero slack in the cable run on the right, so I’m thinking that one of the wires or connections has been strained or partially broken. So, has anyone here had to delve into that wiring loom at all? I’m wondering if there’s another connector behind the bumper, or any advice on how to check the continuity on those cores? I haven’t dived in yet, we’re away for a week now then I need the car for the next week, so I’m hoping for some insight from you guys before I dive into it in August! Cheers folks!

  9. Thanks Steve I tried to buy a sensor from eBay but they said I had to find out if the sensors worked of the ABS system or fitted to the rims I wouldn’t know what to look for lol 👍
  10. I have the same 3.0 BiTDI and I too hear the exact same rattling noise. My mechanic said it is normal too but it is really been bothering me. I have tried other V6 cars like Mercedes Benz ML 320 and even though it is a much older car and engine, it sounded smooth. I even bought a new Oil Pressure Control Valve: https://www.csabastefan.com/en/audi-v6-bitdi-cvua-oil-pressure-valve-replacement.php but, having a hard time replacing it because of the very tight space between it and the radiator fans.
  11. Hi the fact that you have only found repro units should be a clue and at the end of the day as long as they work is anyone really going to notice that they are not oe. Steve.
  12. My radio will not play any stations When I play music from my iPhone it plays and cuts off after 27 seconds then immediately restarts Any suggestions please
  13. Thank you for your great responses. I am still learning the car but have some time in it tomorrow (we are going away for the weekend) so I will try to check how the car responds in the various scenarios you have recorded and let you know.

  15. Hello Luke, As you say - not a good start - so you don’t know how long he has owned it - if he did have any claim to its ownership. Can we take it you have now received a ‘clean’ V5 in your name? I would treat the 3 month ago service as if it never existed, and as a minimum, I would run an on-line VCheck on the car (cost £9.99) to see what else you don’t know about it, before spending anything on it. Please come back to us when you have more details, and I’m sure we can advise on future servicing. Regards, Gareth. last service
  16. Go on LLL Parts website, and see what info comes up against your VIN. It might come up with accessories part numbers.

Hi Rob, There are some really helpful sites on the internet that can steer you through the minefield of offsets, wheel widths, tyre sizes and profiles www.willtheyfit.com and www.wheel-size.com to name just two, but there are others. They are relatively straightforward and you are asked to specify your current set up and then you can input your favoured sizes and the site will quickly tell you how your favoured sizes will fit and importantly sit on the vehicle. You can input as many size options as we want and as many times as you want, I was over a 12 months trying to find alloys and tyres to fit my S7 and eventually with the help of aforementioned sites I eventually found a set of wheels I liked and that would fit. No spacers, just extra length wheel bolts (from H&S) to accommodate the different offset. The other thing to bear in mind, but on an A6 (not an S6) I think you should be ok, is the physical size of the front brake callipers. For me this was an additional problem. Anyway like you, I wanted alloys that filled my arches, that didn't stick out and didn't look ridiculous. I hope I achieved it, but its very subjective!!! Hope this is helpful & best of luck
  18. Correct. I have about 100 clear photos of the car and its complete restoration. I'm happy to answer any queries. Please PM me if of interest. Thank you.
  19. This isn’t going to be that helpful a response to you Zac, but may prevent others falling into the same trap. Anyone going into the purchase of a vehicle which is known to have been mapped, is far more likely to be jumping into bed with trouble. Regards, Gareth.
  20. In the summer of 2024, I had to contact Audi Assist as an amber light on the dashboard came on. A mechanic came out and installed his diagnostic tool. Initially, the error code was referring to a faulty overhead console dome; however, after clearing the codes, the lights went off, and that was the end of it. This year, another amber light came on, and once diagnosed by Audi, it was found to be a faulty overhead console dome, which now has to be replaced and is getting carried out tomorrow (Wednesday) at a total cost of £970. Do I have a goodwill claim against Audi and if so does anyone know how or who to contact?
  21. Hello people, first post as I'm new to this forum. 2017 A3 Cabriolet and I'd like to fit a dashcam. I've done it in other vehicles but the trim around the top of the screen looks a bit tricky. Any tricks or pointers to stop me buggering up the existing wiring, airbags or trim. I'm tossing up between the Vantrue E1 pro and the Viofo A119 mini. I'd like to hard wire it, but I don't use the 12v socket at the front of the centre console so it's not a biggie if it's not possible.
  22. “It is a freedom and a right that all of our constituents should be able to enjoy unencumbered by the state, whether national or local. A weekly shop for a family of five cannot be carried on the back of a bike.” Twenty years ago there would have been no debate. But in Britain’s today, driving even modest cars has become a luxury increasingly out of reach of ordinary people. https://archive.is/1ZcRq My Q5 had a list price of about £42k in 2018. It now seems to be around £56k

  24. Be interesting to know what the smoke test limit is for your car is. CO2 levels from new on diesel ultra ranged from 99-109 CO2g/km. I know the MOT smoke tests soot opacity only. Not mechanically related - but if for any reason car fails MOT and it's linked back to AdBlue delete, then you risk your insurance being invalidated. Insurers share this information for future. Also, when and if the car is sold, I'm assuming new owner will need to be told?

  26. Thanks Steve, Hopefully I can have this resolved on Wednesday in that case! I’ll update the thread with the conclusion then.
  27. A My A6 c7 has came up on the dash to add 1 litre of oil. I added 1 litre and then came up again 1 week later, done the same again. Eventually I got the mechanic to check it out. Couldn't see anything wrong , no oil leaking , replaced the engine oil sensor, 5 litres taken out and 7 added. Three weeks later same thing happened again. Dip stick added and the levels are okay. Anyone else experience this or similar? Thanks
