  2. Suspect the plastic lever is on the underside of that electrical connector, normally press the tab and pull the plug at the same time. You can use a flathead screwdriver against the side of the expansion tank and the sensor and tease it out. Don’t use force.
  3. Photo as promised
  4. I think you’re worrying unnecessarily, 3k miles a year is very low. Actually, that can work against you with short runs and car not coming up to temperature. Just make sure oil is changed annually. 2017 Q5 is a timing chain too, so no belts to change other than auxilliary drive belt. Fuel filter on a diesel is every 20k miles, but suspect TFSI is in with the pump in the tank. Audi will no doubt says it’s non serviceable, but that’s not true and can be done, but hey that’s just me, especially given changes to fuel unless you run super unleaded all the time. Other than that, brake fluid every 2 years and keep air con serviced.

  6. Any update for us Ed?
  7. Even the Audi part is reputed to be unreliable so it's possible your new one is faulty, in which case it would be unwise to drive the car until it goes to a garage. However I think it is more likely to be a failing battery as Steve Q mentioned because of the stop/start fault. Let's hope the diagnosis shows something.
  8. Hi All, is there a good cheap source for rear Jack inserts as they seem quite pricey direct from Audi?
  9. Hi it looks like my connectors that connect to fuel filter are broke, anyone point me in right direction where I can get new ones?
  10. AlexR - unfortunately it's nothing to do with a recall and never will be safety related, despite cars stopping in live lanes etc. Glad your dealer and Audi played ball. There are lots of people who haven't been that lucky. Audi have been in damage limitation mode.
  11. I noticed something. The ingnito key is sending unregular voltage to the relay. When i feed the relay with full voltage during ignition the engine starts without cranking.
  12. Thanks Allan, Wondering if 8mm ID fuel hose might do - make sure it's S.A.E J30 R9 ( the R9 higher pressure rating is important ). I understand the well respected Gates now do a braided version, so well worth searching that out. Please let us know how you get on. Regards, Gareth.
  13. Battery is definitely registered correctly and no fault codes yet I still get a beep after a variable time when the clock goes off and doesn't come back on. I don't know if it's an undocumented feature or a fault. Everything else seems to work OK.
  14. drivers foot well is damp just mainly the middle of the carpet sills is dry where bonnet pull is dry behind peddles is dry h put a watering can down scuttle panel drain water flew out of the bottom anyone got any ideas

  17. You're welcome 🙂
  18. Hi everyone, I do not have a specific budget, but am just starting down this road. I have looked at prices on Autotrader, EBay and on here to get some ideas. I would guess £3k to £5k but let’s see what is out there please.
  19. Hi, my mmi is playing up, did the one you order work as plug and play? Just trying to figure out my options, mark
  20. It's a common fault in many Audi models.
  21. Hi Pipe I think is about 38mm. Have found this on ebay 296994527233 The seller does'nt know what its made from and not interested in finding out (strange man) For £40 one would think metal of some sort as the plastic ones are about a tenner
  22. It is getting increasingly difficult to help you Gerry. Any reason why you can’t post a copy of what you have?
  23. Hi Bob, did you manage to sell your car? If not, can you confirm which engine it is and any known faults/issues. thanks richard
  24. Thanks Doug, I have emailed the letter directly to Audi UK, but as you went through your local dealer and they honoured it I think i'll also send them one for good measure. Thanks
  25. Thanks Cliff, There are a lot of factors to consider. There are pros too. I'll do some more research.
  26. This thread should help:
  27. So, I took the car out for an eight or nine-mile trip today - to get some breakfast... ...which was very pleasant. On the way home, in addition to the DPF light (which had been on from the get-go), I got the flashing glow-plug light, shortly followed by the check engine light. The triumvirate of misery... ☹️ When I got home, I plugged Carly in, and after 20 minutes or so, got the following result: The Smart Mechanic says: ...and goes on to say... So, it doesn't tell me much more than the light on the dash. My DPF is clogged and isn't re-genning as it should. No clue as to why... 🤔 It mentions a control unit - anyone know what/where this is please? Thanks, Mike 😎
