Hi I am not trying to frighten you but am merely pointing out what may cause the problems you have, the only realistic solution is to have the car scanned, the only problem with test driving is normally the tester drives like Miss Daisy so as to not alarm the vendor, when I bought my car at a dealers in Warwick we went for the drive with the dealer and my mate who took me up there I made sure the car was well up to operating temperature and drove round until I found a bit of dual carriageway and then gave it beans in every gear with my mate watching the back for smoke, the dealer was not impressed and asked my friend if I always did this to which he replied Oh yeah he is gonna be using it for a taxi and this has just proved it don't smoke, misfire ,or overheat and knock, all the ones I looked at got the same and if they did not like it I walked away. Steve.
  7. The trim pieces have been kept in case anyone needs the set, I have the 4 door pieces too and apart from a few clips they are in good condition. Once its running again, it will be off to get a roll cage made, as there's nothing available to buy.
  8. It was the internal filter not supplied, got one on Amazon for a fiver. Even came in an Audi package as OEM part.
  9. Thanks everyone especially Joe6 I will follow his suggestion.
  10. Hi All - sorry if this has been asked before - I've just bought a beautiful A6 C7 model and after a few days I have had the Screen go black - I know this is a common fault and an easy fix. After pulling out the Dash and the Folding Unit. I can see that the wiring has been repaired before, with some frayed and snapped cables, but attached to the 8-pin plug were 4 wires, 2 of which had snapped at the plug connectors. So I have tidied up the Split Cables, re-soldered and heat-shrunk them so they are a bit more protected. I've also ordered a new 8 Pin Plug - but now I have no idea which wire goes where in the plug...! Does anyone have a picture or a Diagram of where I need to re-plug in the wires? TIA!!!

  12. “washer bottle cap “ not supplied. I find this is quite ridiculous

  14. Di you find more Peter?
  15. The ecu will be a haltech if it arrives, the immobiliser will not be there, as its not got one in the ecu.
  16. That's going to be difficult if you can't tell us what the warning message said. Presumably the traction battery was low on power.
  17. It's interesting to see behind the dash of a c5. Great work so far! Who's the supplier for your stand alone ECU? And how will hat affect the imobilser?

  20. Driving today with 18 miles on electric left, after a few minutes the car changed from electric to petrol. I stopped, turned off and restarted, on electric, then after a few minutes engine changed to petrol. Message about engine came up on the display but cannot remember what it said, it went off very quickly. Any ideas why this is happening?

Didn't you have the car inspected or assessed by somebody knowledgeable before purchase?
  23. George20s replied to George20s's topic in Audi A5 Club
Ahhh damn that doesn’t fill me with hope as piston rings are an engine tear down, thanks mate appreciate it will get compression tested and pray
  24. Hi it should start with the right cranking voltage, check the starter motor and battery. Steve.
  25. Hi its got sod all to do with the tank sensors its the manky gauge every car I have ever come across with that system, Peugeot, Citroen, Dacia its a cheap and nasty bit of kit, you can either get the dealer to recalibrate it, if they can, or ask them where to get virtual fuel. Steve.
  26. Stevey Y replied to George20s's topic in Audi A5 Club
Hi any warning light even if appears and disappears warrants investigation as the way the software works on Audis is it monitors faults and severity until they come up a maximum of ten times this then defeats the unlearning counter therefore it becomes a permanent code and possibly limp mode, now that you have announced its petrol I would definitely check the injectors but I do suspect if it smokes when accelerating hard it may be worn piston rings, get a compression test done to rule that out. Steve.
  27. Audi parts dept do not have a part number for the 2026 top cover as they are not made. If you have open threaded holes in your engine rocker cover that match the earlier 35tfsi then you can get a top cover from the earlier model. You will need to get the mounting pins as well.

Ok will do that, the thing is it has no check engine light or any lights on the dash it’ll be only when I’m driving they flash up and go after a couple of minutes
  30. cliffcoggin replied to George20s's topic in Audi A5 Club
Nevertheless the car needs to be scanned on a decent code reader as Steve suggested. Warning lights on the dash are not enough to diagnose faults.
  31. George20s replied to George20s's topic in Audi A5 Club
Ahhh gotcha no red oil can on dash
  32. cliffcoggin replied to George20s's topic in Audi A5 Club
I believe Steve was referring to oil pressure not oil level, hence the possible need for a new oil pump.
