Head gasket?
It might be a blown head gasket, it might be a cracked head, but the most likely cause is a defective EGR cooler.

Car is a pile of junk, gone to go out and showing 24 faults.
I suspect that is more of a temporary fix than a permanent solution, because the source of the problem has not been identified and rectified. Nevertheless if it keeps the car going until the fault can be found it is indeed progress.

Head gasket?
3.0T engine, 130k I should also explain the coolant remains clear, no evidence of oil. And the temp gauge never moves...

Car is a pile of junk, gone to go out and showing 24 faults.
So progress has been made thanks to a friend of a friend who knows an ex Audi Master Technician. It appears the issues are well known. He got me to remove the battery negatives , leave the car 30 minutes, reconnect and try again. Did this and now the car is working perfectly, it charges, reports correct battery levels, all back to how it was before it went to the Audi dealership. He called it the Control Alt Delete fix. So for now I have a working charging system.

Alternator failure related to mild hybrid system?
I think it will be on a sticker in your handbook pack which gives the car spec ?

Battery replacement
Thanks so much, Gareth. In the end I rang the garage and he thinks he can do it on Monday morning. So very different from the days when you just undid the terminals and replaced the battery.

Head gasket?
My coolant expansion bottle keeps emptying after about 6/7 miles, I suspected a leaky bottle cos I'd had that problem before but I changed it and it's still happening. Now I'm looking at the oil and it's not good, can someone confirm head gasket failure? Or another explanation for what's happening? Cheers Duane

Battery replacement
Thankyou so much for this. It's around 5 years old but I will definitely follow up on what you've said when I've finished painting the kitchen! Very best, Lucy

Battery replacement
Hello Lucy, How old is the current battery? I ask since there maybe a current drain on it, rather than it just being well passed it’s best. If it’s over 5 year old, it would be wise to renew it anyway. What brand are you intending buying? Important, since these cars are certainly battery-efficiency sensitive. To ensure you don’t lose any codes then you would be wise to invest in a a cheap saver device, which acts to keep 12v to the battery cables when they are disconnected. Finally, you will need to code the new battery to the car, otherwise it could be seriously damaged by being overcharged. A forum search will come up with the advice you need. All in all, a DIY replacement may not be your best option in your case. Regards, Gareth.

Battery replacement
Hello All - My battery has died and I'm all set to replace it myself. We jumpstarted the car last week and despite it initially sending me a lot of mad messages about nothing working, once I got it going and drove a mile, it was all fine. 2 days later, battery flat again. Mu question is, if I disconnect the old battery and replace it, will all my computer settings be lost?

S3 Parking Sensors
I fitted the audi factory reverse camera complete with all cabling myself (from audi dealer spares dept) and the only tricky part was getting the cabling through the hatch rubber pipe. Obd11 can sort out the coding. Cost me £300. Front sensors look a lot more complex and I did not try that. Good luck with finding a decent installer.

Door hinge replacement
That may mean that the body has twisted so the problem may be greater than just the door closure. I suggest you get the car onto an alignment jig to check it first. It would be a shame to get the door closing properly only to find the car crabs or wanders along the road, or that the tyres are scrubbed to shreds.

Hi Spartacus 68 thank you for your reply much appreciated What I’m wanting is when unlocking the car I want the lights to come on all the time it only does it when it’s pitch black is there away to bypass this and they come in anytime of day no matter what I’m using obd 11 with pro subscription is this something this can be done or will I need a coder with access to vcds software Thanks Josh

Yippee I got one….
I had an Island Green 1.4tdi, barely run in at 210,000 miles, 60mpg, sailed through MoT! All standard so don't fix which isn't broken. A fuel pump leak & lack of spares meant it had to go to WOMAUTOMOTIVE in Stoke-on-Trent who had a selection of donor cars. Our "Dinky Toy" is now back on the road with a new owner. My good lady wishes we still had the A2.

A6 C5 all road abs problem
Wondering if anyone could help, my all road A6 C5 , when I drive it and rex past 2000rpm the abs light comes on with the esp and suspension level control light, if I turn car off and restart the light go out, if I keep under 2000 rpm no lifts come on, I have logged with vcds, and only fault is brake pressure implausible, when I do live reading it fluctuates between 0 to 33, when I put foot on brake the pressure goes up as it should, I have changed the abs unit and brake light switch. Is there another module or something I missed

Thought you might need VCDS to get into the system settings. I had a B8 Allroad and it had DRL fronts that were on all the time, but I wanted the LED rears on too from the start. You can also do things like rev counter needle sweep on start up, passenger mirror dip on reverse, etc. Quick Google search suggests otherwise. To enable or turn on your Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) on a 2015 Audi A5, you can toggle them on using MMI infotainment. Step 1: Turn on the ignition or start your engine. Step 2: Press the CAR button on your MMI control console. Step 3: Select Car systems (if applicable) and navigate to Exterior Lighting or Headlights. Step 4: Look for the Daytime Running Lights option and toggle it ON. Once this is enabled, your DRLs will automatically switch on whenever the engine is running and the main headlight switch is in the Auto or 0 position. Hope that works.

Thanks for your comment…. Reckon I’ll leave her as is and not put the engine under unnecessary stress 👍

S3 Parking Sensors
Was going to suggest Alex Alexandrou (DJAlix), he’s site sponsor on Audi-Sport and very experienced. Based in London, but also has retrofit service in Leicester. I had rear camera install by Adam (AV Adaptions) in Aberdeen last year. He’s a coding partner with Alex. I’m normally spanner handy and have VCDS, but these jobs are best left to the pros. Adam is ex Audi too. I’m sure you’ll find someone local.

S3 Parking Sensors
Hi Damian I've just looked on my map and the distance from Doncaster to Nottingham is approx 50 miles so not too far. May I recommend TTW Installations Nottingham. Fantastic auto electrical firm that I have used on my last 3 cars, all bought new. Two Q8's and my current S5 Avant. I am very fastidious on who to use and trust for work on my cars , a bit like you it looks. These guys are the very best in the business. I have had 2 channel Blackvue dash cams fitted on all 3 of my last cars and they do a superb job. Would not trust any other. They will have the experise to fit front parking sensors and rear reversing camera to your lovely S3 as they do lots of other electrical work on cars, many high end. Just look at their installations videos on their website .. Just book it in and they have a comfortable waiting room with free drinks and wi-fi. Have a look at their website. Highly recommended.
