  2. Hi Steve, Thanks for the feedback, I will pick up with them next week. I do plan to fit a new flywheel at the same time, and I'm sure the list of things I need to do is endless. A quick further question (that may be stupid), as the engine is newly forged and I want to ensure this is done properly, should I be looking to uprate the gaskets that are required for the final assembly? Thanks PaulZ
  3. Today
  4. Of course you are both right, and on reflection, the £130 charged wasn’t too bad. It’s just my mind would have been set on the very low cost resolution of a squirt of WD40 and a light tap on the offender. It’s a Welsh thing of short arms and deep pockets! Glad it’s fixed, and thanks for returning me to the true scene of economics? Kind regards, Gareth.
  5. Hi. Had a niggling problem with the right hand charge flap not wanting to close. When I did get it to closed and locked, it opened again when I unlocked the car. So a trip to the Main Dealer was needed. I was probably going to be told "you will have to book it in Sir, our next available time is July" .But, "hang on" the receptionist said I will get a techy to come out and have a look for you. Anyway 10 minutes later I am back on the road with a normally operating flap. The techy said the mechanism gets a bit sluggish sometimes. Probably a squirt of WD40 was used. I was so pleased with the service and in a state of euphoria I gave the techy a fiver. Tony
  6. Hi Richard Pictures look great. I had a A6 Avant for years and it just kept going 'n going 'n going. Tony

  12. It sounds like a broken spring in the dual mass flywheel.
  13. Look at the wires in the rubber bellows between doors and pillars. They often break because of the constant flexing.
  14. Unless there are other instrument and/or cluster problems, the chances are that the temperature sender is faulty. I don't know your engine so I can't help with the sender location.
  15. I'm used to BMW level cost of repairs! 😛
  16. Update: It still does it sometimes , not always and not that often as before, but now it can happen even at lower RPM-s. 2000 or 2500 , mostly in second and third gear. I still can't figure it out what could it be.
  17. Hi Steve, Thanks for your reply, I took it a local Audi dealer he knew where it would be straight away. It was behind the panel on the side of the dash, he said it's common for them to be moved if they have a tracker or something fitted apparently. I've got an ECM327 dongle that connects to an app on phone, it worked as well. It's thrown up a P22A7 code, something to do with the NOx sensor heater? I'm gonna get it looked at while it's under warranty I'm not messing with it.
  18. Hi there.. New to the club.. Just got my 1st Audi last Saturday. I'm Richard, 42 from West Yorkshire, mechanic for 20+ years..missus.. 3 kids.. Dog... So obviously I've got an avant 😂 Had to be a quattro... Just had to be.. Our old bus... Ford Smax 2.2 was writen of a month ago.. So I was forced into the position of needing a new car... So I tookbIt as a blessing and an opportunity to get a car I've always admired... The A6 Avant.. So after looking for 3 days solid I bought the old girl 2008 2.7tdi bpp quattro, paddleshift, le Mans spec, in black 😍 168k Few minor issues needed addressing... Undertray insecure (done) Drivers door doesn't unlock of remote (to do) No rear washer (parts on route) Sun visor clips broke.. (fixed) Rear lights were white nearly..(restored) Needed a good clean.. (ongoing) 😂 Done a few non essential Bits too 😉 Looking forward to browsing the forum for tips and ideas 😊 Next jobs harmonic balancer and derestricted airbox.. Thanks for reading 👌 And yes I do like the number plate 😂
  19. Hi interesting, I can see where its going with the rotation of the purple bit as you say thats probably the adjustment for contact with the pedal, only other thing I can suggest is removing the clip on the left side which is holding the wiring and see if the whole unit moves down. Steve.
  20. Thanks Steve. The purple tags do not pull out, they actually rotate round. My assumption is that once the new part has been fitted, whilst the brake pedal is in its resting position, i need to rotate the purple tags to lock some sort of internal mechansim in place. I assume its some sort of calibration to determine where the plunger sits whilst the brake pedal is at rest. Either way, i did try to rotate the purple dial and tried removing also, but no luck with that approach either. I have tried to give this some welly and rotate it anti clockwise but it just does not want to budge. Bit scared that i end up breaking something in the process. I have also tried to de-press the brake pedal and then also rotate, but no luck with that either.
  21. Hi never changed one myself but looking at it have you tried pulling the two purple tags out, its just the have a couple of things like this on the car in the engine bay and they pull out to release before you can rotate the unit. Steve.
  22. Hi Gareth considering the part is only about £25 makes you wonder if thats not bad for about an hours work, including tea. Steve.
  23. Hi I would personally get it back to the dealer ASAP and ask them where the port is located, you do have one the car would not run without it as its also part of the Can bus Gateway, furthermore I don't know which scanner you have but I doubt it would communicate with the car as most cars 2020 on are equipped with SFD which is a firewall, have a look at OBDeleven thats what I had to purchase to get around the SFD ON MY 2021 VW Passat. Steve
  24. Attaching image of the brake light switch.
  25. I am trying to replace the brake light switch on my car but are unable to actually get the switch removed. I have removed the panel under the steering wheel, also removed the air vent tube that blocks the switch from view. I can see the brake light switch, but my understanding is that you are meant to rotate the switch anti clockwise by 90 degrees or so, however when i try to turn the switch it just doesnt budge at all. I have tried rotating both ways but it does not seem to move in either direction. Also unable to remove the cable from the switch. I was expecting a to push in a pair of ears on either side to remove the cable, but cannot see anthing particular that would cause the wiring harness to be removed. The replacment part i have bought is "4f0945459b". Any help on how to actually remove this and any fitting instructions would be greatly appreciated, especially with regards to what the purple part of the brake switch is for, it seems to rotate and lock into a position. The reason i am trying to replace the switch in the first place, is because there seems to be a slight delay (2-3 second) for the clutch to sometimes engage when setting off. It happens when you are at a standstill, as you lightly press the accelarator, the engine revs increase but the clutch does not seem to fully engage, there is a slight delay of around 3 seconds, and when it does eventually engage the car jerks especially if the revs become too high as you wait. I ready a previous post that it could be due to a faulty brake light switch that is causing the transmission to think that the brake is still depressed and therefore not engage the clutch. This is therefore the reason why i am trying to replace the switch to see if it does the trick or not.
  26. Hi as far as I am aware the only way of checking the gear oil level is via the filler port/bolt, the oil and any associated filters should be changed every thirty thousand miles or two years. Steve
  27. Thanks Arun. We have to be careful in respect to what we quote. Surely quite a difference between an A4 and an e-Tron. Shame the OP hasn’t returned to view the responses and give us some clarification. Kind regards, Gareth.
