Hello to you all..strange thing with blower fuse

Featured Replies

Hello guys.how are you all doing?my Audi A3 1.9 tdi blower fan has stopped working.i checked the fuse inside the car and it’s good.checked the fuse under the bonnet and there was no power.so I changed the fuse presuming that it was blown.but when I put in the new fuse I get no power on the fuse.when I take the fuse out and check the hole (the fuse socket) I get power.but if I put the fuse back and check I get no power from the fuse.please help

Welcome to the forum John, you'll find the members on here are a friendly and helpful bunch :)

When you say you put the fuse back in, does the fuse blow each time?

Cheers

Steve

Hello there thanks for the reply.no the fuse don’t blow.when I take the fuse out and test the socket, the tester light turns on.but when I put the fuse back in and do the test, the tester light stays off.tried with other fuses on the same socket and it’s the same thing

Hello John,

As I understand it, you have a fuse failing to complete the circuit rather than a fuse which blows (pointing to a short circuit). In effect, you have an open circuit situation. These are often head scratching situations!

What I would do:- Remove the fuse from its position in the fuse board and examine it. Does it have any white corrosion on it? Even if it doesn't, replace it with a new fuse of the same rating - 10 or 15 amps. I guess- but give it a squirt of WD 40 or similar before inserting it and then give itba good waggling once in place. If you then have power to the circuit great. If not, let us know. Even when the circuit is complete fed, blowers often suffer from blown resistors on positions 1&2 - the most common used.

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Hello there thanks for the reply.i change my battery and all seem to work now.😂😂but I see the hazard Button light stays on after I turn the car off is that normal?

Hello John,

Hazard flasher button:- Have you checked if this is still illuminated after about 5mins? Hopefully not.

I would still check for contact resistance across the fuse which feeds the blower.

Kind regards,

Gareth.
