Rear doors not opening

I have a 2005 A3 Sportback, 5 door. The back doors do not open when using remote or key. They will open normally once opened from the inside. I can live with this but wonder what the issue could be.

im wondering if the central locking control module is failing or the drivers side locking mechanism. My advice would be to get a diagnostic check carried out. If it's the drivers lock mechanism then you may be looking at £120 for an auto electrician to fix.
