Hi, new to the forum. I have purchased a A4 1.8T.  The problem I have is with the temp gauge. It works when cold but after a few miles down the road it falls back to the bottom (as if car switched off). Previous owner has changed the temp sensor. I also have heat from the blowers. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi Steve, im wondering if it could be the thermostat? 

It might be worth having a diagnostic check carried out to see what fault codes flag up.

Hello Steve,

When you say it 'falls back' - just to confirm this is a sudden and complete lack of a gauge reading rather than a fall off over a very short period of time. 

If so, I would suspect an electrical contact issue here and it might be worth checking the connector/ wiring particularly associated with the temperature sensor. Worth a free coat of looking at before opening your wallet to pay for a diagnostic check.

Could be worth trying the cleaner spray and connector wiggling as a start then Steve.
