2012 B8.5 AUDI S4 S-TRONIC PROBLEM?

Hi, just a quick question .

I have noticed a kind of rumbling slight clonky sound coming from I think underneath the engine.  It happens while at idle in park and neutral with foot on the brake pedal .

As soon as it is shifted into drive or reverse still with foot on the brake it stops! It is audible inside the car but louder once outside .

The car has covered 78,000 miles with fsh and all gearbox oil changes as scheduled .
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks  Matt.

Hi Steve,Thanks for responding

I.m not sure if it could be the engine mounts because I have no problems whilst driving.

Do you think it could be something like an exhaust shield

That could be possible as the gearbox  engages it could stop any vibration from the engine !

Thanks again Matt

You'd be surprised how many heat shields come loose on cars. They're just little aluminum border line foil and just pop rivet on. I've had numerous ones cone loose in my time.
