I'm supposed to be picking up a q5 2.0 tdi automatic. But I've found nothing but endless horror storys on how weak the auto box is with the mechatronics failing. 

It's a facelift model (2012) so I'm hoping someone can tell me they made some sort of improvements from this year, because at the moment I'm thinking of getting the deposit back.

I think service history has a part to.plsy in.this. has the gearbox had the relevant fluid changes? But I do appreciate that any electrical.items can fail. 

They revised the gear box on the facelift model but yours is an early 2012 it might still have the older box. Had similar concerns when I bought mine, so went for a late 2013 and 20k done box been fine

I have a 2011 TDI auto and the box is fine I'm on 126000miles now.
