2011 3.0 TDI - don’t exceed 2500 rpm and glow plug warning

Featured Replies

Hi I’ve got an ongoing intermittent issue with my 2011 Q7 3.0TDI, on occasions under acceleration it flags up a “don’t exceed 2500 rpm” and puts the car into restricted mode (limp home). When you key on and off again it clears. Plus it doesn’t store any permanent fault codes! I’ve had it in a dealers several times but they’ve unable to find the fault.. anyone had anything similar?

I have the same issue on my 2007 3.0tdi Q7, I think it may be a faulty actuator on the turbo, yet to diagnose formally. How did you get on?

Any answers yet as I’m having this problem ?

I replaced my turbo (reconditioned) and actuator, I was told that if the fault was intermittent it’s most likely the turbo vanes sticking and if it was continuous it could be the actuator. Mine was intermittent particularly if I restarted the car whilst still warm. £1350 later including parts and labour and the car now runs perfect.

Glad it's sorted 😊
