I just bought a 2019 A6 s line, I was disapointed it didn't have privacy glass but I didn't notice until it was too late. When I was checking the specs online I noted that Audi states the A6 s line comes with privavcy glass as standard- could it be that when Audi bought it as a demonstrator it had this option de selected or is it just a lot lighter than the BMW I am used to?

I don't think you can de-select it. If you want it darker you might have to have tinting film applied. 

I recently purchased a 2021 A6 Black Edition.

One of the upgrades over the S-Line was the privacy glass. The glass is very black, much more than other cars with it.
