New car battery but remote locking not working

Featured Replies

Hiya, does anybody know if I have to reset the alarm/mobiliser when you put a new battery on.  It’s an Audi A4 sline 2 l tdi convertible  . Much appreciated . Also can manually lock ok. Thanks

Hiya Steve, all sorted , I googled it in the end. I thought the battery would improve how long the engine takes to start but it hasn’t! The old one is only 2 years old ! bit !Removed! off ….

That's not good! The average life of a battery is 5-7 years. Most come with a 3 year warranty. So might be worth seeing if you van get a refund on the current one.

Most likely heater plugs ! ?

Thanks Ann,

Your experience will probably be of benefit to others longer term.

As a matter of interest, what make of battery did you buy as your replacement, and what was the make of the battery that you renewed after 2 year’s service?

Kind regards,

Gareth.

Hiya , uploaded images but it may be a glow plug problem but Rac said a few weeks back that glow plugs are still working enough to start it in the cold !
