Oil Change

Featured Replies

Afternoon all,

I bought my 1st Audi in March 2021 and the dealer said they would service it for me. 1 year on and the oil change light is on. Is that normal?

Also, how much should I reasonable expect an Audi dealer to charge for an oil change?

Thanks

It's when ya mileage reaches 9.300 that's when they reckon it needs done I was quoted £298.00 for oil change from dealer.you can get it done alot cheaper at an audi/vw independent garage that use genuine parts and can update your service record on your car and online.

Thanks Davy,

Is it just a case of googling independent Audi garages or is there one website which shows them all?

Cheers

Just Google to find one in your area if there ain't any you will have to be ripped off by your local audi dealer 🙈

Haha nice one Davy. I'm based near Manchester so must be one. Just having a google now it's like a minefield trying to figure out who's a legitimate Audi approved specialist ha. Nice one 👍

Hi most indépendant garages are capable of doing an oil/filter change, best practise is change all the filters and oil it will probably come to less than Audi want for the oil change only, I am fortunate that I can do my own so using Bosch filters and a good quality oil the parts come to about £70.00 plus a Sunday afternoon.

Steve.

Hello Liam,

The need to change the  oil and filter a year on from when it was last changed, depends on what oil was used  last year, and how many miles you have covered since. Apologies Davy, but as far as I’m aware, the two servicing options are:- Longlife, or annual - depending on the mileage covered.
Just let us know what mileage you have added, and we can advise further, but I’m very much with Steve, when he recommends changing all filters:- oil, air, pollen and fuel - if diesel, ( use Mann or Bosch if not using VAG - which are likely to be by these anyway!) so you have a base point to correctly move forward from, in terms of your servicing plan.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

I'm sure when I bought the car the dealer said this vehicle had been on some sort of flexible service plan meaning it wasnt serviced annually but more like 20k miles. He did show me some paperwork and stuff which validated that this was an actual thing, but I cant find much about it now. I think Audi have changed their plans in the last year so its not showing, but I was under the impression I wouldnt need to service it for a while.

I think I have done about 7k miles since I bought it in March 2021.

I am a bit confused about these independent Audi Garages,  is it best that they be affiliated with Audi in some way?

My normal mechanic recommended VAG Bolton to me, but it doesn't appear that they are affiliated with Audi so not sure what to do.

Thanks Liam,

It would appear that the car has been on a Longlife service schedule, which would be applicable to vehicles covering high annual mileages, and yes, that can equate to services being due every c18k or so miles.
Since you are only covering around 7K mikes a year, it would be recommended that the car be on an annual service, since low mileage operation can put more stresses and strains on a vehicle than one covering high mileages on motorways etc.
Independents should be able to carryout these services, and most should have access to recording their servicing on Audi’s systems, so that the service history is continued - we take it you have copy of the servicing which had been carried out, before your ownership.
Kind regards,

Gareth.
