Gavo12 Posted August 22, 2022 Share Posted August 22, 2022 Hi, I鈥檝e a 2012 a6 avant, been developing a knocking noise form the front drive side like a drop link noise, found it to be play on the driveshaft on the gearbox side about 5mm up and down, has anyone came across this before found a reason or solution? Magnet Posted August 22, 2022 Share Posted August 22, 2022 Hello Gavin, Is the noise more evident on one lock direction than the other, and does it occur in the straight ahead direction as well.聽 It might be worthwhile getting a local second opinion before moving forward to replace the joint or the complete shaft.聽 I鈥檝e bought quality aftermarket parts from Car Parts in Motion ( no connection) at good prices, so might be worth seeing if they do these. Alternatively, I did use Driveshafts U.K. ( I think that鈥檚 what they were called ) in the Midlands a few years back. They were doing a repair service then.聽 Hope some of this helps.
