My 65 plate A4 2.0tdi Avant currently with an Audi specialist awaiting a new AdBlue tank, pump and ECU at a cost north of 2K 🙄

This will be the second time this has happened, once at 65k back in 2019 and again now at 106k.

love the car but certain that Audi know about this issue and are reluctant to acknowledge the fact.

my dilemma is, do I keep the car once repaired or will other issues follow?

On the AdBlue topic, you can get the no restart message flashed out of the ECU at a fraction of the cost of replacement parts. Give Andy at https://ecuflash.co a call.

On the wider get rid or keep topic, I’ll never buy another Audi again. 16 plate B9 (actually B8.5 according to it’s car plate). Owned for 5ish years and I’ve put 50k on it. 80k in total.
I’ve spent about 7k keeping it on the road, fixing issues that shouldn’t be there for a car this age and mileage. Not including “on-the-road costs” like tyres.
-Had the brake servo/abs issue.
-Had the AdBlue issue.
-Odometer failed and had to be replaced.
-2 broken rear coil springs.
-Have the issue with low interior heat.
-5 (yes five) new sets of front discs/pads due to excessive warping.
-1 new calliper.

I can go on, but suffice to say my experience of “Vorsprung durch Technik” is actually “our technology is crap”.

I picked up my 2014 a6 avant 3 weeks ago, took it back 2 weeks ago as start stop, auto release handbrake and parking sensors were up the spout, on way home the adblue p20e8 fault popped up so I refilled it with just over 5L tried the reset which worked for about 30 seconds then got the same message pop up, but it also bought on the engine management light too. Apparently there's nothing wrong with it and I picked it up yesterday with them saying all the faults had been sorted to go back out an hour after getting home to have the 650m message pop up yet again.

Also on a side note I was going through the menu's to find out how to change the clock time and found the engine oil level menu with it saying please reduce the level.... now just before I picked it up it Apparently had a service, should I just hand the car back as a lemon or should I persevere?

I'm starting to get the feeling that I've been sold a dud car as it wasn't as described in the ad

remapping with adblue delete should help,

I'm getting it done through warranty this time, if and when it happens again I'll be going down that road of getting rid of the adblue, might even delete the dpf and egr whilst I'm at it

I had an intermittent Adblue warning on an A4 Allroad recently. Then I noticed a pattern. Initially I got the 650 miles warning which dismissed itself but was left with the smaller warning above the clocks with a spanner and the word  Adblue. This disappeared after 2-3 miles. So, an intermittent error message.

If you get this do check state of battery charge. Low battery caused the error on mine, hence why it disappeared after 2/3 miles of driving. Put the battery on a trickle charge for a few hours and guess what - no faults shown.

I’d hate to think that a dealer would change parts and charge the customer when all that was needed was a fully charged battery…

@colinmf - I had the same issue as you. I noticed that I had the car in standby for quite a while with the heating and radio on (Draining the battery and we're in winter months now too) Went to pick the kids up from school, jumped back in the car, turned it on and this is when I first experienced the "Adblue fault no restart after 650miles" - I had only just topped up the Adblue (10 ltrs) about two weeks ago. Luckily I found your post, I trickle charged the battery over night and then in the morning when i started the car, the warning dismissed itself but I was left with the smaller warning. I had an OBD2 Scanner, connected it to the car and cleared all the fault codes I.e. P20BC,P20E8 - ever since, the car has been fine. Thank you so much!

Which demonstrates once again how a weak or dying battery can cause false warnings.
