S5 4.2 engine removal

Valve stems are going on lovely not going the put the collars on yet as iv ordered and good few k44 from bg so I can clean the Valves and port holes lot af carbon there

Hi bud to be honest I thought it was at 1st as it kept coming up engine removal on the topic and when it didn't just thought I'd carry on this way

Not much done today removed 3 studs off the exhaust as thay snapped easy enough job and found a little bit of carbon cleaner so started on cleaning the valve still not finished but it's looking good

So come too a stop for the moment ordered so stuff wet and dry 800,1000,1500, another torque wrench as can't fined the small one and a full timing chain kit ouch

Haven't been on for abit due to work and other things so started on the valves clean and cutting back in new stems are on putting the keepers are a pain to put back on got 12 days off so should put a good dent in it and if all goes to plan engine should go back in

Its definitely a labour of love but she starting to look like a v8 now

Mines a labour of love too and sentimental. Just trying what the best option is to get mine mobile again.

Why is your the same as mine valve stem seals gone Steve, the scary part was doing the head bolts and the 4 cam shaft adjusters on the torque setting especially the head as it was 30nm 60nm then 90 degree and a final 90 degree

Well the back plate on and new gasket what a pig too do and cleaned the valley and changed the gaskets in there just opened the plenum up and may have found why it was smoking these should be sealed in place and thay wasn't so oil would have gone down the exhaust area

My crank has gone on my 2.5tdi c5. So gotta decide whether I'm rebuilding the current engine or engine swap

Thank you. One garage said they've been struggling to source the parts. So might do a proper engine swap.

Engine now finished and back in the car having a problem putting the cat on drivers side gearbox lowered, and subfram, seems  very very tight and not much room
