AdrianP
2013 Audi A3 1.2TFSI, does it have a cam belt or timing belt? Cam belt is very 5 years or loads of miles and timing belt is loads of miles. Car has done 30000 miles and never had a belt change. Audi want 820 inc VAT. But I have also had Audi garage say its a timing belt, which is it? Thanks

AdrianP
Thanks Steve. When I saw your previous post I assumed the 1.2 would be the same as the 1.4 as per the manual i think you posted. https://procarmanuals.com/vag-ssp-616-audi-1-2l-1-4l-tfsi-series-ea211-engines/
AdrianP
Done a bit more reading on the forum. Any suggestions on a good independent up to an hours journey from west london that would use Audi parts?
Solution Magnet Posted December 1, 2022 Solution Share Posted December 1, 2022 Pending someone coming up with an answer to this Adrian - it is well worth considering having the auxiliary belt renewed at the same time. There have been reported incidences of these belts parting company, getting tangled up in crankshaft pulley, and putting sufficient rotational strain on it to cause the cambelt to jump teeth. On-cost should only be around the cost of the belt. Appreciating you have enough expense ahead of you, but if you think the cambelt should have been changed in 2018 (and again now in 2023) then one expense has been ‘saved’. Kind regards, Gareth.
