Engine start fault clutch switch for start

Featured Replies

Hi

Am having an issue with my Audi A6 it’s 2.0 2014 tdi manual recently car is not starting sometimes and sometimes it would start so I had it scanned and the mechanic said it was master clutch cylinder that had the switch built into these models so I would need replacement so I had it replaced and now the issue has gotten worse now car doesn’t start at all with button if I let it roll down hill and do a jump start it works I was really hoping if anyone could give me a advice or have experienced anything like this it would be much appreciated

thanks

wouldn't say that's the master cylinder at all going by being able to start on a rolling start

two questions?

1. Have you any fault codes with VCDS or ODIS (or any reputable diagnostics scanner)

2. Next time you go to first start the car in the morning can you attach a jumper pack or jump leads and try a cold start to see if the problem remains?

I ask the above as question 1 would tell you if you had a master cylinder sensor fault or a starter motor circuit fault and question 2 is more of a hunch.... Ive seen on 2 Audi's now when the battery is getting tired everything looks OK but theirs not enough kick in the battery to start her when shes cold especially with the cold snap of December/January weather

I went to another mechanic he did his scans and was able to remove the no engine start fault code however now it’s keep saying press clutch to start the car although there is a new master cylinder and he can see on the scanner there are reads when you press the clutch and release it

he went under the car and was able to start the car directly from there and same with the fuse box next to the master cylinder so the relay is getting the signal from the car when I press the button because I can hear the click but it’s unable to send the signal to main ecu or the back ecu so there are two ecu in car

but when he connects his text wire he is able to start the car through relay

any way he spend good two days trying to find which cable it was most likely a damaged or broken cable

he installed a new switch through the front relay so I am able to start the car without having to press the clutch

it’s good short term solution as I am able to use the car for the time being but I would want to get it fixed in case I want to sell the car

also not sure how the MOT gonna go

if they be able to pass it with a separate start switch
