MMI unit faulty - crazy cost to replace! HELP!

Hi - new on here!

My MMI unit on my A3 e-tron (2018) is not working properly and I have been advised my Audi main dealer it needs replacing at insane expense!

Looking for advice - would it be possible to fit a second hand MMI unit and then have this reprogrammed so that it would work with my vehicle?

Issue is that it starts up with 'initialising' screen then after 30 seconds shuts down, and the cycle then repeats again every couple of minutes. Tried a hard reset from inside the car using the centre console buttons but didn't sort the issue.

Thanks!

Thanks Steve, really appreciate your prompt response!

Apart from the inconveience of not having any music/satnav, it is going to be a bigger issue come MOT time as I also had a tyre changed (puncture) and although it is now fine, I can't initialise the tyre pressures as this all done via the MMI computer so showing as a warning on the dash that I can't update.

Next question...is the recoding of a replacement MMI unit sort of thing a 'local' specialist could do or would this have to be done by an Audi main dealer?

I don't think the tyre pressure warning light is a failure but happily proven otherwise.

Yep it can be done by a retrofitter such as Audi retrofits or autologics. Or try a local vag retrofitter local to you.
