A4 2007 2.0 dti CVT gearbox issues.

New to the forum. And Audi ownership.
I brought this car with the possible gearbox issue. With the plan of having to fix it. All the gears select fine and drives ok. but most of the time the gears on the dash are illuminated. And when that happens the steering wheel paddles then don’t work. Does anyone know if I need to get the TCM repaired or could this be another issue? As so far apart from the lights on the dash and not having the paddles shift it still drives fine.

There is no fault codes. Reluctant to remove the TCM for repair as it drives ok.
