SQ5 (2015) High Gear, Low Revs Vibration - Torque Convertor?

Featured Replies

Hello all.

I did try to look through previous posts, but could not find a thread.

My 2015 SQ5 Tdi has started to vibrate when in a high gear with low revs, high torque required. Also can it be, at times, clunky selecting Drive or Reverse. I think it feels like a clutch slipping a little.

Any thoughts? Torque convertor? A sensor?

Thanks in advance.

Does sound more mechanical than electrical but you could get as diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. When was the gearbox last serviced?

If it's the torque converter or clutch I'd get this sorted asap.

Gearbox serviced 6 months ago.

Many thanks for the advice, I shall get it looked at ASAP.

Hello Steve,

Not a progressive answer, but has this issue occurred since the gearbox was serviced, and did this service involve diagnostic resetting?
Kind regards,
Gareth.

Looking back I feel this has been a progressive development and nothing to do with the service.

You could well be right Steve.
I take it it was a gearbox specialist who did the gearbox service for you -? If so, my way forward would be to ask them to inspect and test  it for you.
Kind regards,

Gareth.
p.s. We take it this was a multi £100s gearbox service -?

Ah, I was wrong, diff serviced, not gearbox. It has never been serviced. On 85k miles.

Thereby could be your best route then Steve.
Find yourself a recommended gearbox specialist, and seek road test and inspection there.
Kind regards,

Gareth.
