Hi All, Am a new member and needing help

My Avant mot expired in summer, ill health tampered me getting her ready (Hart condition after Vaccine or Covid, cant work, its rubbish) anyway off all meds now and can actually do stuff.

Car had strate threw exhaust on it and egr delete, I knew it wouldn't pass mot so bought a donor car for parts, took all under trays and arch linings, full exaust, took turbo to, done 100,000 miles less, lether seats and cup holder all the bits that were broken on mine replaced from donnor,

I seen on donnor car had the trip computer ont the right hand stauk and thot cool may aswell take that too, thot well going to need to take ECU and all the bits with it too to get it to work so went about that,

Key barral with sensor

ECU

Cluster

stauk with buttons

headlight switch mine was faded

Transferd all to my car and would not start, just said safe mode, i thought nothing at the time because the donor had sliped timing hence reason was scrap, Any way tried to clear all codas thinking this will resolve the issue ..... nope, So thought just put all my stuff back in and all good.......NO still in safe mode

Got a locksmith to try and reprogram key never worked, all could do was turn immobiliser off and car started, perfect, ...... but i noticed the indicators were not working and lights on cluster not on.

Thinking i need to re program the cluster to ECU, was contemplating buying the VDS softwere at 250 bit steep but could do it. From research you need to extract the securaty code from the cluster and ECU then able to pair the two together

Has anyone done this? and can anyone do this?

Any help be much appreciated

Sorry to hear of your health issues. I know on my older A6 the ECU, cluster and injection pump all have to talk to one another to get the car to run.

So you'll definitely need to get the cluster coded. You'll need an auto electrican to help with this.

Safe mode is the car realising that these components aren't talking to one another and the car imobiliser has stopped it working.

Also the sports exhaust shouldn't affect the MOT as long as catalytic converter is fitted. Egr might not fail MOT as long as mot tester can see it fitted.
