Audi A6 Front end intermittent noise

Featured Replies

Ive developed a strange noise at the front end of my Audi A6 C7 2.0tdi, it comes and goes and doesn't sound like a wheel bearing more of a hollow wind type noise, anyone had any similar experiences? (Apologies for the noise description as I find it hard to describe)

it feels like its right in front of me on the drivers side, but it could be anywhere across the front I suppose

Does is sound like an owl hooting for a long time? Howling!?

If so, I've had that twice. It's your bearing.

Thanks for the reply thomas, the sound you describe is pretty much spot on. It is intermittent, depends on the road surface, usually kicks in over 50mph.

I am an idiot. It's not your bearing, it's your caliper. Sorry. Giving out bad info. It's my age and memory 🙂 or constantly fixing the !Removed! car!

To check, when it makes the noise, just touch your brake and if it goes away it's the blumming calliper

Mine kicked in when going slower. In villages and setting off. Intermittent I agree.

Had it twice from the front end both times.
