Unusual rythmic humming noise A6 Allroad

Featured Replies

Hi Everyone,

I have an 2012 Audi A6 C7 Allroad Avant, when driving over 20mph I have a rythmic humming/vibration from the front. It seems to cycle so will make the noise/vibration for one second then off for one second and so on. This rythm changes in speed and frequency the faster I go. The noise dosent stop when I put it into neutral when travelling or does the noise change accoring to revs, only speed. I think the speed in the rhythm also changes when cornering. Any help would be much appeciated!

Also noise dosent change in braking

hi, I have the same noise on my 2016 A6 Allroad, did you ever find the fault?

Welcome Danny, and thanks for joining.
Hopefully, we may have a reply from Benjamin, but it’s worth preparing for not having one.
Can I ask:-

Are all tyres matching - particularly in thread depth?

Does the noise vary when you travel around bends, and the vehicle load shifts from one side to another?

Can you perhaps trace the noise source as being more from the front or the back?
Have you tried swopping back wheels to front and vice versa.
Kind regards,

Gareth.
