Auto-folding wing mirror - washing the car

Featured Replies

How do you stop the mirrors from randomly folding in as you are washing the car?

I looked in the manual, worse than useless, not seeing anything on the web either.

Just want to avoid getting my fingers crushed while washing the car. I have managed to get them to fold out with the drivers door open, shut the door so you can wash the car and they close again automatically a while later. I have no confidence they wont fold in when I am washing the mirrors and crush my hand or fingers.

Any suggestions?

Can’t say I’ve ever had this problem.

They stay open if you don’t lock the car. Mine certainly do.

In fact it’s my way of looking to see if I remembered to lock the car. Been a couple of times I’ve looked a couple of hours after going in the house and they are still open / car not locked.

Edited to add - If you are really concerned just turn ’Fold Mirrors’ to OFF in the MMI.

Car -> Settings -> Central Locking -> Fold Mirrors
