enc Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 (edited) Isn鈥檛 working. No sound from motor. Can鈥檛 find a fuse listed in handbook.!!??聽 Will the motor have died?聽 conflicting opinion online if the bumper needs to be removed to 聽access the motor which is attached to screen washer bottle. 聽Anybody swapped out a motor ?聽 wipers are working fine btw! 聽 Edited September 3, 2024 by enc
cliffcoggin Posted September 3, 2024 Posted September 3, 2024 I would not spend money on a new motor without testing the fuse first. I am surprised the fuse is not shown in the handbook. Look at the underside of the fusebox cover. You may find some information there.
cliffcoggin Posted September 6, 2024 Posted September 6, 2024 Do you know there is more than one fusebox on A3s? My 2007 model had one under the bonnet and another under the dash.
enc Posted September 23, 2024 Author Posted September 23, 2024 (edited) Well blow me! I found the issue. With the mot looming, thought I鈥檇 better get my finger out!聽 As above, a fuse for the windscreen washer pump is not listed.聽 Now during winter last year I removed the fuse for the rear wiper because 1/ I never use the rear wiper and 2/ if the front wipers are switched on, the rear wiper automatically operates when reverse gear id selected. As I often reverse from my drive, This can put strain on the rear wiper and blade if the rear window is frozen.聽 anyways, I refitted the fuse (number 47) hey presto, washers are working again.聽 Odd that there's no mention of a fuse for the windscreen washers. Hope this might be of use if somebody searches for same issue on a 2012, 8v.聽 Edited September 23, 2024 by enc 1
Magnet Posted September 23, 2024 Posted September 23, 2024 So you haven鈥檛 had wipers since last winter!?聽 Coupled with that, you took the fuse out that controlled them!聽 And I thought my memory was bad. Your actions give me some reassurances Ian.聽

Magnet Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Apologies - washers through last winter-?聽
enc Posted September 24, 2024 Author Posted September 24, 2024 聽 It鈥檚 always raining there鈥檚 no need for washers聽馃槀馃槈 seriously, 聽once im through the mot I鈥檒l remove the fuse again, I can鈥檛 be doing with a frozen to the window rear wiper! I鈥檓 just relieved it was an easy聽聽fix. I聽聽didn鈥檛 relish the thought of removing the front bumper to replace a faulty washer motor.聽 I still find it bizarre there is no reference to the fuse doubling up with the rear wiper for my car聽馃え
Magnet Posted September 24, 2024 Posted September 24, 2024 Just remove the rear arm and blade Ian, and retain your washers.聽
enc Posted September 24, 2024 Author Posted September 24, 2024 Actually, that鈥檚 not a bad idea聽馃 But rather than remove the arm and blade (I dont like de wiperer鈥檇聽聽look) I might just unplug the connector at the motor聽馃榿 1
