Engine swap

Featured Replies

Thoughts please guys im thinking of putting a 1.0 tfsi out of my a1 into my a2 are the dimensions any where near as in wheel width drive shafts mounts etc

If your a2 is anything like my A6 you'll find this tricky. As the ECU, injection pump and instrument cluster all talk to one another to disable the imobiliser. Finding someone who's able to do the electrical coding is difficult. I'm in a similar boat but just wanted a different engine code of the same type of engine fitted.

Also I notice your a2 is a 2003 model, cars registered on a 52 plate and later have to meet the emissions standards of the car when new. Where as up to 02 registered cars can meet the emissions standards of the engine rather than the car as long as engine manufacturing date can be confirmed. So I could fit a 1970s rover V8 to my A6 and it would just have to met the 70s emissions.

The benefit you'll have is you're looking to fit a more efficient engine than the original.
