Full Size Spare Wheel in an A1

Featured Replies

Hello, please can someone confirm if it's possible to fit a full size spare wheel in the wheel well of a an A1 Sportback S Line (2020)? The car is supplied with a puncture repair kit but it does look like it would fit in the well but given so many cars only fit a space saver wheel these days I have my doubts. The space looks deep enough and the boot shelf can be raised up.

Welcome John,

Wondering why you want to fit a full size wheel ( which doesn’t sound feasible - and you don’t tell us the size of your wheels) as opposed to fitting a space saver?
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Space saver would fit. The VW Polo one should be the same as the A1.

Is the battery in the wheel well?

Also I'd recommend looking on eBay for the space saver and kit.

The tyres are 215/45R/17.

I'm not a big fan of the space saver tyres and would prefer a fullsize wheel. No, the battery is not in the wheel well. It does look big enough but I know I had a Vauxhall once that looked big enough and when I came to fit it in it was just a couple of inches out.

Thanks John,

Probably straight from the University of the Bleeding Obvious, but why not just take one of your wheels off and try it in the well?
Space Savers not being to your liking John - hopefully won’t be needed, and when is, will only be for a short time, and is far more practical option to gunge and a compressor.
Might be worthwhile asking yourself :- how many 4 year old Audis fitted with the spacer saver option are on the road, where the spare hasn’t moved out of the well?
Perhaps you could let us know if your full size wheel does fit the well without any adjustments John.
Kind regards,

Gareth.

Thanks Gareth, that's probably the surest option... I just thought someone would know. It's not actually my car, I'm just trying to find out for them.

No problem John,

Even easier then, hopefully they can do it and save yourself a job.
Could you please ask them to do us a kindness and feed back to yourself, so we can then close the thread off.
Kind regards,

Gareth.
