Gearbox malfunction you can continue driving

Featured Replies

Hi dear friends, I just wanna get help/advice from you pro guys.

Something wrong with my A5, yesterday the screen showed "Gearbox malfunction: you can continue driving", then I continued to drive, and some minutes later, it disappeared, and then it shows out, looped for 3 times, and then totally disappear.

But today's morning, when I started the engine, the alarm occured again, I decided just park the car and do not move that at all.

One thing I need to say, when driving it's totally smooth, nothing strange, did someone have the same situation like me? Or any advice?

Thanks for your attention!

Btw, the car is Audi A5, 2010, 2.0 TFSI sportback.

I'd recommend a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up. When was the gearbox oil last changed?

Worse case scenario you're looking at a module or megatronic unit.

Hi Steve, thanks for your advice, next week I will go to workshop have a diagnostic check, last time I changed the gear oil almost 2 years ago, 7000km before.

I'm wondering if this is a vital problem, I wanna drive to the workshop instead of towing cuz it seems not so serious right now. But before going to workshop, I will not driving to anywhere else though.

Thanks bro.

In that case I'd definitely say changing the oil is pointless as you've done it recently.

You should be fine to drive it for it's diagnosis but take it easy.

Thanks

Hey bro, I already solved, I changed the computer which controls the gear box, that’s the recommendation provided by workshop (after diagnosing ), you can go to workshop first to check it out
