Speed Warning

Featured Replies

Hi all,

Picked up my new A1 Sport a few days ago (upgraded from my technik), to discover the very annoying speed warning feature! Now I appreciate that most of you will say, just don’t speed, but this is already becoming frustrating as it beeps 4 times for just slightly going over the limit.
I have gone into set the speed limit in the speed warning settings on the MMI, but it doesn’t work! I’ve heard that you have to reset this every time you start the car, but the settings stay there! I’ve tried everything!!
Is there anything I can do, or is this a factory setting? If it is, I don’t understand why it gives me the option to put my own speed limit in!
Any help will be appreciated, as already regretting my chose of car and this feature is more of a distraction than safety! 😔

Hi its a factory setting which only can be changed by the dealer, they wont do it as it wont comply with European law, the cars you buy in Europe have this feature but theirs actually slow the car down when the thing starts beeping, the only reason we dont get that feature as well is because we are not in the European Union, everyone else just gets what have the annoying beep, I have no doubt soon some clever guy on YouTube will have found a way to program it out.

Thanks Steve! I get it, but it’s so frustrating! I’m no way in any means a speed limit breaker, but we all potentially go over by a few, especially when overtaking on a motorway. Will this be the case with most of new cars now then?

I was reading up on it all and I was obviously oblivious. However, a spokesman from Audi has said this can be deactivated each time you start the car, which is not the case on my A1 Sport, even though the option is available to me.

Hi as you say it can be deactivated there are a couple of videos on YouTube already but nothing about permanently disabling the system, the full system is law in Europe where as Steve Q said it actually cuts your speed down for you but there are reports of drivers on motorways quite happily. cruising along at 65mph and the camera spots a 30mph sign on a parallel road and promptly reduces your speed to 30mph, this is the same as collision pre sense, my mate has an Alfa Giulia which is a lovely car in daylight but of a night if it spots a lampost on a badly lit lane it just slams on the brakes.

That’s crazy! And surely very dangerous! I’ve since been to Audi and you need to toggle off 2 bits to deactivate.
