Good afternoon,

This is my first venture onto a forum, and my first Audi. I never had the space before but a new house allows me to start a small collection of, what I think, are classic cars so....

I am about to buy an Audi S4 B7 Avant tiptronic 2006 Japanese import, full service history (all in Japanese BTW) with the services about every 1500 miles. I presume preventative oil changes to protect the chain guides.

I have had it running from a very cold start with a couple of seconds of slight rattling then OK.

I have done a little research and other than the chain tensioners the model seems pretty reliable.

I have not test driven it yet, any further advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Terry

I forget to mention 55,000 miles on clock

Could definitely be the chain. Usually jap imports are well maintained due to the strict MOT regulations there.

Wiring and computer systems can be slightly different. The other thing you'll have is understanding the service history as till all be in Japanese so you're relying on the dealer to be honest about the history.

Hi Terry, I've had imports befor eand they were the most reliable cars i have had.

Perhaps the two seconds of rattling you heard was just before the oil got all the way round due to the excessive cold?
