Hello there, just brought my car from Audi dealer just now because of the same fault, lucky I’m in warranty and they will fix this for me, on this occasion they said there is a faulty sensor in the rear bumper, rear bumper need removing to get to that sensor  and they need the car for 5 days to fix this , might take less but it’s booked for 5, so fingers crossed. they need longer than I expected( 5 days..I mean, Jesus that’s a lot of time if having to pay by your own means)  because apparently they need to recalibrate the sensors for lane assist and everything that sensors are designed for, fault can occur as well due to water going in or whatever, so many reasons for the fault. The warning came on when I started the car not long ago, then next time I started the car it was ok, no fault, then again after few days warning came in again, so its an intermittent fault I guess, when the safety system gets teated by the car, booked the car while it’s under warranty last week, since then no warning, it’s absolutely fine, but I still took it to Audi today and they confirmed on their testing it came up a faulty sensor under the rear bumper, sorry for repeating myself. Hope this helps

Thank you very much for your reply. 👍🏻

I’d be very surprised if the above problem is also the same given the ‘general’ error message displayed.

This appears to be a common problem and a many reported users have found that if you hold the SOS Call button until it calls and then terminate the call, it can clear the error.

I would certainly try that before booking in for a costly diagnostic.

Washed my car today and the error message has gone, hopefully it doesn’t come back 👍🏻👍🏻

I’ve tried that jammy and in my case the warning did not clear, could not hang up as well so I’ve had a chat with the guy who answered and I’ve explained what I’ve tried to do in the hope it will clear the warning but it didn’t. In all honesty, if that was something to be done every time the warning came up I would chose to fix the issue and not to clear the fault, needs to be repaired. I don’t think guys at Audi now what they are doing, they said it coming from behind the rear bumper and we need the car for 5 days he said, 5 days🧐 has been more than 6 days now and the warning did not came up, not sure if I want to take my car to them if there’s no problem.

There’s a red/purple antenna behind the rear bumper, fitting new one should be plug and play but if you have blind spot assist the rule Book says this needs to be calibrated if the rear bumper is removed and replaced/refitted, in the real world you will be fine, the system is not very precise like a front radar

That makes sense then, they said something about recalibration, I’ll take it back then saying they don’t know what they doing, thanks for the explanation 👍

This is where it gets tricky, if you have blind spot assist this comes under a driver assistant system and as Audi states it needs recalibrated they will Resist not doing it for liability reasons which is totally understandable from a dealer point of view. The con is that all it involves is putting the car into calibration mode and a brief 10 min drive

Yes, the car has blind spot assist, Lucky enough I’m covered for this repair under warranty, I guess that would be an expensive fix otherwise🤦‍♂️

Bumper off, antenna fitted and bumper back on I’d say 1.5hrs max, calibration 30mins. What Audi charge I could only guess

This is such an inherent Audi VW problem that they have known about since 2019 but still have not fixed. I suffered with my 2022 A6 Saloon and the excuses are terrible.

Having looked into this in depth, it appears they are getting out from classing this as a "recall" because it is not a safety issue.

One direction to take if it occurs and you are out of Warranty, is to kick up such a fuss about this at the Audi Dealership referring them to the European wide issue with this problem and as such this is Audi's problem to resolve.

Definately one  for the Ambulance Chaser's to start an Class A action on ?

Hi Glenn yep I have a 2022 a6 avant and had this problem  a few times as it won't let me talk on my mobile phone in car I have to get out of car and wait a while and then get back in and it goes away sometimes for a few months but always comes back it is getting less and less but is frustrating  thanks Gary
