Hello all, thanks for any help in advance

strange issue that I can’t really find a topic that is the same. 
 

my late 58 2009 B8 avant 2.0 diesel manual FWD. Has a fault with cruise control not working in 5th and 6th gear only. 1 to 4 work fine. 
 

Gear detection/ change indicator  in the centre display works fine up to 4th gear but 5th and 6th is not displayed. The car will Prompt to change up to 5th or 6th when in 4th but won’t detect the change. 
 

I feel these two are related but for the life of me I can not pinpoint what’s causing it.
 

FYI clutch and brake switch are fine

Hi thanks for the response, no Error codes related to it other heated mirror fault codes
