Mrglee Posted Tuesday at 05:21 AM Posted Tuesday at 05:21 AM Got two gauges playing up Oil temp sometimes slams straight over to 180 c before starting give it a tap goes back to where it should then creeps back to 180 will it do this if bad/lost connection ? Or bad dial? Fuel gauge only reads from 7/8 of a tank to full no matter how far I drive this has happened recently was perfect before.
Steve Q Posted Tuesday at 05:01 PM Posted Tuesday at 05:01 PM I wonder if this is a fault with the instrument cluster. You can send it off for an assessment and repair. Repairs usually are around £200-£300
Mrglee Posted yesterday at 03:25 PM Author Posted yesterday at 03:25 PM Thanks Steve will look into that think the oil temp gauge itself is faulty if I got another dash can I open up mine and swap the gauges?
Magnet Posted yesterday at 06:00 PM Posted yesterday at 06:00 PM The oil temperature gauge issue could be due to a faulty sender. Similarly, the in tank fuel level variable resistor maybe at fault or sticky. Not absolutely certain with your c30 year old model, but it was very common to encounter a voltage stabiliser on earlier vehicles. This small unit was generally in circuit with the gauges and served to ‘damp’ the gauges - by lowering the voltage to c10 volts. Well worth checking the circuit diagrams. Regards, Gareth.
