Agreed insurance valuation

Featured Replies

Hi all, im after a agreed valuation for insurance purposes, Adrian Flux recommended that I obtain one via the Audi owners club.

Firstly have I posted in the correct area for this request?

Thanks in advance

Welcome Parmy,

Is there something special about your 14 year old car that leads you to require Agreed Value on the policy?
Is this your ‘daily driver’?
Are you having a mileage restriction on the car?

Hi.

If you wanted to PM me your details I'd be happy to take a look into this to see if we can get the agreed value sorted without the need for an officinal valuation.

Normally most of our agreed values can be completed with just 7 photographs of the vehicle and the completion of a vehicle condition report.

Regards,

Dan.

Hi Magnet,

I've recently had a complete engine rebuild at considerable cost.  All the big ticket items have been replaced etc.  Unfortunately the engine seized last year which required a complete rebuild starting with crankshaft, pistons, rods, block resleeving, etc all major components have been replaced and all plastic pipes etc, water pump,  aux pump, thermostat,  super charger bricks, complete set of new injectors, front seats reconditioned last year, its had in excess of 15k worth of work, so guess its because of my investment im seeking a higher agreed value.  It's also a very well spec'd car with just under 10k worth of manufacturer optional extras including the desirable rear sports diff, MRC Stage 2+ and custom exhaust system.  The car usually only covers around 2-3k miles per annum under my ownership.  This will be my forever car...it maybe getting on a little now but imo its got that build quality that Audis were known for before we ended up with big chunks of plastic everywhere.

This car looks stunning. Is it worth you trying a broker like performance direct?

Thank you Steve!

I've insured with Adrian Flux again for this year.  Admiral were definitely cheaper by a large margin but they told me there book value for a vehicle like this was 8.2k I had to laugh that off, maybe for a base model that's been neglected but not this particular S4.  It has 11 stamps in the book direct from Audi and only missed recently because its been off the road for 14 months during the extensive works, alot of shop hrs have gone into this including cleaning of every mechanical part.

Very impressive engine work Parmy, and overall a very nice example. Who is the actual insurance company who insure it for Adrian Flux?

Regards,

Gareth.

You're most welcome, should give you many years of motoring enjoyment to come. Gives me inspiration to get my A6 sorted. Glad you got sorted with insurance. I see you're in Leicester like me 🙂 if you don't mind Me asking who did your engine rebuild? And interior work?

Hi Steve, the interior work was done by a chap who does all of Tom Hartleys cars, based in Derby, so he's very good.  The garage that did my rebuild wouldn't normally undertake such a job due to time scales and how involved it would be.

It's been a struggle, there's still a few discussions to be had, its not been plain sailing, but hopefully these will get sorted.  I'm probably going to pick up the car this coming week so will know if she needs to go back in for anything soon.

I'm thinking an agreed value of 20k would not be unreasonable in light of all the work, the transmission was sorted when I purchased the car back in 2020 under warranty.

Very nice, and thank you. I've found a guy who says he can rebuild mine. Got to source all the parts but as you know it's not cheap. Pistons £1k+, cams £400-500, turbo £600, injectors £600 etc.

Please keep us posted on how you get on collecting it.

Where abouts are you based?

Picked the car up a few weeks back but wasn't sure how I felt.

I've driven it home and is crazy loud, long story short the garage took it upon themselves to remove the internals of the catalytic converters without any authorisation from myself.  The whole rebuild process has been very stressful with this particular garage.  The actual rebuild seems OK but the ecu is locked so they cannot delete the lambda sensors which is effecting the driving experience when you're downshifting approaching roundabouts etc.  So im now considering non payment of their final invoice has new original cats would be 6-7k additional cost....

If it was me, I'd be wanting them to replace the cat's at their expense. Although the gutted CAT's may pass a visual inspection I feel an MOT emissions test will probably fail

I find it hard to believe any legitimate garage would that. Is it possible you told it to "do whatever it takes to fix", or words to that effect?

Should point out that this garage had my car for 15mths!  They provided me with a valid MOT! After they smashed the cats out!!

Absolutely not, they called me and I told them not to touch the cats until I got there in person to make the decision, what makes it worse is that they had confirmed some 12mths earlier that the cats were fine 🤷🏽‍♂️

💯 percent you'd rightly expect a failed MOT yet they presented me with a full 12 month MOT.
