Dash illumination

Hello everyone 

    I am new on here and to the Audi world this is my first one .

I am very happy with the car except for a weird problem!!

It is a 2011 A3 8p model.  1.6 petrol.  

When I get into my car and start up sometimes my dash is illuminated sometimes not ..

If I turn the lights on it will illuminate and the dimmer will work just fine but if I turn the lights off the dash stays illuminated but the lights on my window switches go off and heater controls go off as I think they should.. has anyone else have dash illumination issues.  Thanks for reading.  If it makes sense to anyone. 😄

This could be an issue with the instrument cluster. Might be worth getting an auto electrician to take a look
