Key fob battery

Featured Replies

My car key wouldn't open the car unless I had my hand on the door handle.  Changed the battery,  after watching videos,  now key fob will not work at all.  Battery is correctly inserted.  Do I need to "pair" the key fob with the car. Thanks

Solved by Arthurlie

Might be worth reprogramming the key which you can do via YouTube tutorial online.

In failing that, you might need a diagnostic check to see if any fault codes flag up?

Thank you Steve I'll have a look at YouTube

So many YouTube videos are for older non keyless cars. 1st insert key !!!

Finally found one where you actually put the key fob, at least in my instance, into the centre console against the remote key symbol. Altough I can start the car I cannot do anything else. One video suggested holding the open and lock buttons simultaneously to complete the programme. But nothing is happening. Am I being very unlucky in that by simply replacing the battery in the key fob. I have lost the programming on the key.

I'm sure that there must be a simple fix before having to callout a mobile mechanic.

The Audi handbook is not helpful

It's definitely the key. The spare one is working well.  I just need to find out how you reproamme the other key. Strange that there appears to be a lack of guidance anywhere for keyless vehicles.

Issue resolved.  User error.  Happy to embarrass myself if it helps others....this safety label was still attached to the new battery and wouldn't complete the circuit.  Thanks everyone. 🫣

I do. thank you.  Which is why I'm happy to share my stupidity having saved myself a small fortune on a new key. Such a silly mistake.  Every day is a school day right enough
