Hi all, after 40 odd yrs owning Volvo's I've had my arm twisted by two nephews (one a mechanic the other owner of VAG specialist business). Had this Q5 tdi 40 Vorsprung delivered today. Very busy trying to take in all the "bells & whistles", got to admit it's not as ergonomic as the Volvo but we'll get there. Just hope pulls our hymer caravan ok. BTW: Any caravanners out there can advise on what to do regards altering suspension for towing. Also should the car have come with a service book ( the dealer gave me a A4 stating dates & mileages that it's has been serviced by Audi. TIA.

Ray.

Audi servicing will have been recorded centrally on a database and prints should be available from the dealer, but a service book is not usual nowadays. I'm surprised your nephew did not mention it.

Thanks Cliff, neither of'em new I was buying it! I'll keep the "Service Certificate" the dealer gave me and ask nephew No: 2 to provide invoices for future work if there is no service book to stamp.

Ray.

If nephew 2 has access to the Audi database it would be worth him getting the full service history to see if it is complete, though be aware that non Audi servicing will not appear on it.

We usually recommend independant VAG specialists for servicing so you have the ideal contact.

This looks lovely 🙂

Hi Steve, I'm hoping it is lovely! It's the oldest car I've ever purchased and the most expensive. Had new XC90 in 2002 at 29 grand odd. Just part exchanged my very nice, very reliable 10yr old XC90 Inscription  and at 75yr old, gone are days of spending monies on new cars.

As stated the service record is digital but you can ask the dealer for a full printout, Also you can use the My audi app to keep a track.

Sometimes the information for certain things is difficult to find but I was led to believe if it's a factory fit tow bar it automatically adapts everything for towing when electrics are connected.

Incidentally, I removed my side steps because all they did was make it difficult to get in and out and dirty my trousers.

As a post script there is an air suspension toggle for towing under CAR/Settings and service

Hi all, towed our 1800kg Hymer caravan to the Peak District last week and very happy with it, except that it seemed to remain in too low a gear for too long ( revving it's goolies off ). Thursday I had it mapped to stage one ( 190 - 220 bhp / 400 - 450 nm ) and what a difference. Also fitted Audi  mudflaps front and back and OUCH!! what a price.
