Would anyone give me some thoughts on my A3 which has thrown me a curve ball today.

2014 Audi 1.4 TFSI.

Went in for brake service. Garage is telling me it's binding on all four corners. New disks and pads done. Then they sent it on test and reported the above...

I read about ABS module can go. Would this be best first check?

Garage wants 500 for this check. Im seing that ABS service to module is 200 in a few places.

Has anyone else had similar to this? Is this any sort of known issue?

Took it in thinking a sticky caliper or need for service. Garage did discs and pads and then reports 4 way binding on brakes on test drive. Why would a car bind on all brakes? ABS fault does make sense to me. But welcome any other input. A few places offer to take an ABS module and refurb. That is what my guys want to do. But it's a few £

Seems there is a known issue with pump/ecu. This can screw the correct hydraulic pressure to each corner symptoms is binding. Think i will have the unit sent for a test/fix which costs £200 300ish

Will do. I've had bad calipers before but never all 4 together. Fingers crossed that module will be the cause. Will post up the outcome.

The ATE MK100 is a common ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and ESP (Electronic Stability Program) control module manufactured by Continental (under the ATE brand), often found in vehicles from brands like Volkswagen, Audi, BMW, Seat, Skoda, and others from around 2012 onward. A "pump fault" typically refers to issues with the hydraulic pump motor within the unit, which is responsible for building and modulating brake pressure during ABS or stability control events.
Common Symptoms
One or more brakes locking up or binding (e.g., not fully releasing after braking), which can cause overheating or uneven wear.

This avoids buying a new OEM unit, which can exceed $1,000–$2,000 plus labor.
Replacement: If repair isn't viable, source a remanufactured or new MK100 module matched to your vehicle's part number (e.g., via OEM or aftermarket). Coding/programming to the car is usually required using dealer-level tools.
DIY Considerations: Basic checks like bleeding brakes or replacing sensors might help minor issues, but pump faults often need bench testing or soldering expertise. Videos show motor replacement, but improper handling risks further damage or safety issues.
Avoid ignoring it: Untreated faults can lead to brake failure or void warranties.

Ok ECU/Pump was faulty.

On YouTube you can see a teardown to explain the reason these units fail.

Refurb is 300 400 quid.

But if brakes have been binding and you are a fool like me you have a big bill to sort the calipers and pads/discs.

We live and learn.

Key lesson.

Get on any bad brake issue early. Get it checked as precaution.

Ecu/pump won't show up on scan dash.

If you dont. You'll cook your brakes and will pay ££££ to sort it out.
