A6 C7 Clutch release bearing failure

Featured Replies

Hi Guys.

Does anyone know what it is exactly that is missing here. The first garage messed up on fitting my Dual mass flywheel, Clutch and Slave cylinder Kit. After they took the gearbox out and in three times the one and only replacement slave cylinder failed after 8 days.🤕

After a not their problem attitude I had to have it repaired at another garage with the instructions that they keep the parts for inspection. So I had evidence of failure. Unfortunately they gave me back all the larger items but threw away the seals and small parts. Really not good. As that is exactly what I needed to show what had failed. Not happy... again.🤕🤕

So..... is there anyone out there that knows what part is missing from between the inside 'cup' and outside 'cup'. It keeps them from separating. I guess its a seal of some type.?

Any explanation and pictures gratefully received and any ideas as to why it would fail allowing fluid to leak out fast (instant failure) after only 8 days.

I have tried googling it but without any results.

Many thanks all.🙂

Apologies, I cannot answer your question Peter, but hopefully someone may.

My interest would lie in the make of the first part that failed after 8 days, and more importantly the make of the latest part fitted.

Perhaps you can let us know.

Regards,

Gareth.

Hi NO SEAL, the metal bonding has broken away in the middle.

Hi Steve.

I see what you mean. Inner metal ring with perforations slides into round channel. Any idea why this would come away/dislodge.?

Thanks in advance.

Hi anything to do with master/slave cylinders the only choices are Sachs/LUK  the right brake fluid is a must and the only oe equivalent is Comma ESP 4 which is a lot cheaper than Audi and wont rot the seals, no markings would suggest aftermarket as both the Sachs/LUK have there names on the castings.

Steve.
