No Crank, won't start

Featured Replies

Having a few intermittent issues in the past couple of months with start up.

Drove home from work, around 15mins, nipped to a shop, then on to nursery. Picked my child up, went to start the car and nothing.

No crank, no stuttering, nothing. Dash is lit as usual, no faults.

Had this issue around 3 months ago, wouldn't start, go it towed to a garage and they said some about the 'earth to the engine?' Anyway it came back fixed but has done it again.

Can anyone please help me in what the issue could be this time. Battery seems fine, as well as starter.

Is there anything I can do?

Thanks Molly

Hi sounds like the starter may be playing up, battery/starter being fine has anyone checked the starter voltage or the battery under load?.

Hi, thanks for replies. Battery was checked yesterday by a family friend.

12v as normal and with the ignition on dropped to around 11.7v

When you turn the ignition you can hear a slight click, is that the solenoid?

Tried to turn it over again and absolutely nothing, no crank again. All the dash is on as normal, inc radio and I checked the light which didn't dim.

Any further help would be much appreciated.

Hi with the ignition on the voltage should not drop much below 12.3-12.7.

I've had hot start issues for months. Have you tried jump starting it from the engine bay when it doesnt start?

If it starts, it may be resistance going back towards the battery. Absolutely nightmare trying to solve this one
