A3 Sportback Rear Wiper leaking, fix it or delete it?

Featured Replies

Hello, first time here. I've had the car about 3 months and love it, but my rear wiper motor has started squirting washer fluid all over the place.

I can get a copy part for about 30 quid, or the other option is to get a bung and get rid of it.

I like the look of no wiper but is it practical? Also I am fine with the actual removal but I'm hearing I need to code the rear wiper out, which is something I know nothing about. What bit of kit would I need to buy to be able to mess around with the cars software? Cheapest option?

Thanks in advance!

Replace it. All rear wiper motors eventually fail. The brass or copper pipe that runs through the motor shears and leaks water. It’s made by Valeo. Personally I wouldn’t fit a pattern copy. If money is tight, just buy a breaker unit matching part codes.

update: stripped the original motor and put o rings where the water was escaping, didn't fix it. bought a chinese copy motor which fixed the place it was leaking from but water was coming out of where the little white clip pops onto the motor. Tried siliconing it, didn't work so removed the metal clip on the tube the holds the clip on, and the clip and attached the tube directly to the motor, and it's fixed for less than 30 quid.
